Sorry, but "Newty Oop" doesn't really do it for me. "Newty Oops" on the other hand...

Go ahead, make fun of him. He could turn pro at any moment.

Amateur indeed. I believe this discovery is named "Gingrich."

I fancy myself an amateur cardiologist and thoracic surgeon...surely Newt would have no problem with me performing a triple bypass on him?

I believe you are mistaken. That photo is of a creature commonly known as "Yikes!"

The candidate immediately stated that global warming "hasn't been totally proven" and even if it were, he would still oppose a cap-and-trade solution to combat carbon emissions which, as Gingrich argued, would "turn... over the entire economy to the EPA."

Didn't we start a cap-and-trade on sulfer or something to get rid of acid rain? I an't seen anything in the news about acid rain in a few decades, and that didn't seem to kill the economy.

"The Dutch face the problem of oceans. They decided to build dikes instead of lowering the sea."

Translation: We don't need to do anything to stop global warming, because it doesn't exist. And as an example, look at the Dutch's response to rising sea levels.

Karac: I an't seen anything in the news about acid rain in a few decades, and that didn't seem to kill the economy.

Are you mad? It was an economic apocalypse! The industrial centers became of the US became a wasteland, entirely because of job killing regulations and unions, and not because of cheap transportation and globalization moving jobs overseas.

I am an amateur paleontologist

So I am really getting a kick out of most of these replies.

Some of you guys are very good at making it sound like you know what you are talking about.

But trust me.... You don't.

I think you just want to make yourself sound smart, when in reality you don't know what you are talking about.

This is how bad info gets passed around.

If you dont know about the topic....Dont make yourself sound like you do.

Cuz some Derpers belive anything they hear

As an amateur psychologist, I can assure you Newt is a sociopath.

The full quote is even worse: "I, also, am an amateur paleontologist, so I've spent a lot of time looking at the earth's temperature over a long time".

Aw hell no.

On a barely related note, I watched Ron White's special show for the troops last night. These days Ron White looks a lot like this self-proclaimed amateur paleontologist.

A woman gets married for the fourth time. As her husband carries her over the threshold she whispers "Be gentle with me, I'm a virgin." "A virgin!" exclaims the husband. "But you've been married three times!" The woman answers "My first husband was a gynecologist. He just liked to look at it. My second husband was a psychiatrist. He just liked to talk about it. My third husband was a stamp collector... God I miss him!"

In Newt's circles, isn't that kinda like saying he's an amateur Satanist?

Can someone please explain the difference between a "paid volunteer" and an "employee"? I'm just a little fuzzy on the distinction.

So he's worthy of mocking derision because he understands that the climate has been changing continuously for the entirety of Earth's geological and paleontological timeline?

Paleontology is in direct conflict with GOD'S WORD. How can you study historic life when there is no more to find than what is described in THE HOLY BIBLE?

There's no way I am voting for Newt after this. I'm going to write in Jesus.

The republicans number one goal has not been helping the American people and fixing the economy. They said it themselves... It's been destroying the president. Anyone who votes for any of these assclowns is nothing more than a traitor. Politics above patriotism. DIAF.

No hes worthy of mocking because he used "amateur Paleontologist" as his reasoning for knowing more then the thousands of scientists worldwide who disagree with him.

So, then, what was Newt doing on the couch with Nancy Pelosi...if it wasn't shilling for the Global Warming Hoax?

The current Mrs Gingrich should be asking some questions

laserhan: No hes worthy of mocking because he used "amateur Paleontologist" as his reasoning for knowing more then the thousands of scientists worldwide who disagree with him.

Not to mention that it's the wrong field. He was just reaching for an impressive title that says "I study stuff from a long time ago" and came up with "amateur paleontologist".

If you asked Newt how much teeth the EPA should have to regulate business, he'd flaunt his amateur interest in dentistry.

Amateur paleontologist and professional idiot.

That's almost as obnoxious as those guys that say shiat like "I've studied the koran. I know what it says. Muslims are all evil." When all they've done is read a bunch of suras out of context on some blog.

We all know that "thousands of scientists" have never been wrong about anything (new window).

/More doctors smoke Camels than any other cigarette! (new window)
//And that's been peer reviewed.
///Seriously, Newt is so vulnerable on so many other fronts that his understanding that climate has changed over time is pretty small potatoes, especially since it's, er, true and all. I'm no fan of Newt, but have you no shame?

From Wikipedia:

Gingrich received a B.A. in history from Emory University in Atlanta in 1965, an M.A. in 1968, and a Ph.D. in modern European history from Tulane University in New Orleans in 1971.[12] His dissertation was entitled "Belgian Education Policy in the Congo: 1945-1960". ... In 1970, Gingrich joined the history department at West Georgia College as an assistant professor. In 1974 he moved to the geography department and was instrumental in establishing an interdisciplinary environmental studies program. Denied tenure, he left the college in 1978.

Wow. So his PhD is in history, he was hired into the history department and then MOVED to the geography department?!

1. Who the fark has a geography department?
2. Who teaches outside their PhD Area?
3. In 8 years you couldn't persuade people that they would like working with you, or couldn't produce enough scholarly research?

Also : Sounds like West GA was giving 4-year contracts, and he'd burned both department chairs, and wasn't welcome at that school anymore.

Who is only using the last 36 days of weather? No one. Hell, no one is really looking at the past 10 years, they're looking at the past 2-3 hundred, post industrial revolution.

Every time the climate has drastically changed in the past its been due to something external happening. IE Giant farking meteor hitting the earth, The magnetic poles reversing, etc. And since according to my compass, North is still north, and to the best of my knowledge, no giant farking meteors have hit the earth, its a pretty safe bet that all the gas we have been pumping into he sky since the mid 1700s is to blame.

Also, every SINGLE one of those examples in that article were long held beliefs that were refuted when new information came out, I hate to break it to you, but global warming IS the new information that is refuting what scientists used to believe.
