Some of the conversation comments on the ESPN article are hilarious. Lots of logic gymnastics going on in an attempt to try to take away anything they can from the undisputed fact that this team has beaten #1 and #2.

It's because their coach is banging a Harbaugh. It's the harbaugh blessing.

College basketball continues to circle the drain; it's just barely watchable (exhibit 1 gazillion being foulmania between UK and L'Ville yesterday), so beating the #1 and #2 teams in the country is notable, but not especially remarkable given the dearth of talent. What's even scarier is the thought of this year's product had the lockout not loomed so large over the offseason. This is the worst it's been in my lifetime, and if I weren't a UNC alum, it'd be NBA only at my house.

ok. thanks for chipping in. for those of us who prefer college over NBA (it truly is a subjective preference), beating #1 and #2 is especially remarkable.

No, no it's not. College basketball is wildly inferior to the NBA, and the only folks I've met that believe otherwise have a boner for seeing white boys on the court.

i consider the NBA to be incredibly unwatchable. either we both have different preferences, or one of us is wrong. either way, what is your purpose in this thread?

Indiana beats the #1 team in the country, Kentucky, who have now plummeted all the way to #3. And now they've beaten the #2 team in the country. I wonder if now they to get to at least crack the top ten themselves?
College basketball is a heck of a lot more sensible than football, but for god's sake, Indiana is not the 15th best team in the nation.

as opposed to now, when winning games means nothing. winning regular season games has no bearing on tournament seeding at all or even making the tournament! they shouldn't consider this a victory of a sign of their program's re-emergence at all.

Forget it, he's a Jayhawk. They spend all of their time basking in past glories and trying to prove that Mizzou is the worst 13-0 team in history.

Hard to say if they'll jump into the top ten; they did lose to Mich St the other night. Hopefully the OSU win (at home) is worth more in the minds of voters than the road loss to Sparty, and they don't actually drop in the polls.

yeah but state was ranked and it was a road loss. i think if anything that helps sparty's rpi but doesn't damage indiana too much.

I don't care what Indiana are ranked, I am just glad that they can beat good teams at home. The loss at MSU was not surprising, and really quite acceptable given the level of play they have had over the past 5 years. I am just happy to be relevant again. We can worry about championships starting next year.

as an IU fan since I was 9 or 10 years old, I've watched through the good and bad. This team is as exciting as those early 90's teams IMO. We have a great coach, great players, everything is clicking. Love the outside shooting and having an inside presence in the middle FINALLY.
Just awesome!

Soon the Hoosiers will be back to their former glory when Bobby Knight coached them, when they'd do awesome in the regular season and then shiat the bed in the first round of the tournament.

I think that`s Ohio State`s job now.
As for Indiana and the polls: It`s just December and the season is long enough that these things play out as they should. If Indiana is truly back, they'll start climbing the polls as they play through the Big 10. If they aren't, they'll lose and no one will care. Even so, if they're at all decent they'll get a spot in March where they can show people what they're worth. This isn't like football where not starting in the top 15 or playing for the wrong conference automatically disqualifies you from playing in the championship.

I think what's even more remarkable is that IU had never done that in the program's history, despite having 5 banners on the wall.

Zeller needs to hit the weight rooms ASAP, and Crean needs to learn how to make in game adjustments (or hire someone who can). Other than that, I love where the program is heading.

The game was kind of a whistlefest - but the Hoosiers stayed tough and adapted. If Ohio State had a plan for the last four minutes of the game, it wasn't evident at all.
Nice to see an article on Fark that acknowledges that Kentucky fell to IU, by the way.

the fouls called on zeller were a huge mystery to me, considering all the contact oladipo and verdell take every time they drive with no whistles. i'm glad we pulled it out with that disadvantage (and I'm glad OSU and UK can't hit clutch free throws).

Yeah, his last championship was 1987. He was at IU until 2000. There's a whooooooole lotta fail that came after overpowering the unstoppable Rony Seikaly.

I know when his last championship was. You didn't specify anything about any certain segment of his career. 3 championships is pretty unassailable. You also forget the 1992 Final Four, the 1992 and 1993 Elite Eight, and the 1989, 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994 Sweet 16.
And the 2002 runner up season was really Knight's team.
What a ton of fail ...
