Between his quaint accent and the birds chirping in the background, that was the most pleasant slingshot video I've ever watched.

Dennis the Menace just became a whole lot scarier.

I like his slingshot with 2 switchblades, tear gas, tazer, and flashlight.

I bet he's *always* the prime suspect any time a window's broken in his neighborhood
or a neighbor loses a pet under suspicious circumstances.

sooo... lemme get this straight... "ballistic gel" is supposed to be about the same as human flesh, so going straight through six inches of flesh generally means these slingshots are capable of sending a bullet through your torso, presuming they don't hit any bones.

Yep. I would love to see a pig carcass test to see if it can shatter a bone.

Must be nice to have money to fund hobbies.

Other than my own bitterness, that was quite a homosexual video. I don't like watching a big German spank a flesh-like gelatin blob and say he didn't expect that much penetration.

If he'd only finished the video with a cherry bomb test, from right in the center of that blob.

Nah, you can see his cat chillin in the begining of the vid.

Absolut Height Advantage: Must be nice to have money to fund hobbies.

Slingshots aren't exactly expensive. Get a knife and a forked branch. Surgical tube bands with leather pockets are about 2 bones at Walmart. Alternatively, get a hold of a bunch of office rubber bands and make the pocket out of duct tape.

I don't know what impressed me more... the fact that he could shoot a bullet from a slingshot and have it travel straight, the fact that he nailed the gel (although we don't know how far away he was), the shaking of his hand, or the fact that he could pound me into meat paste in about 30 seconds.

I think the combination of these two are most impressive. He has Popeye arms and he still has to fight the band back.

Yeah, I actually let out a "Wow." when I saw the bullet. Very impressive.

This guy makes some awesome toys.

Any video that has AC/DC as the soundtrack is okay in my book.

Probably so. Hurling small heavy projectiles at high velocities has been one of the go to methods to hunt animals and to kill people for thousands of years. Slingshots may be relatively new, what with the requirement for a strong, highly elastic rubber band, but slings have been around for a very long time, possibly for as long or longer than the bow. They've also always been popular weapons, even over the bow, as while they might not have the range or penetration of the bow, they are cheap and easy to make. Slings often kill simply by shattering bone, such as the skull, without any penetration or drawing of blood. Not very useful against armored opponents though.

Also, having just looked up the wiki entry on slings, the tradition of putting messages to enemies on projectiles is a long one, as they have a picture of a Greek lead sling bullet from the 4th century BC with "take that" engraved on it.

I think there was an episode of Deadliest Warrior that pit a sling against a helmet. Helmet sure took a beating. If it wasn't deadly, it would certainly compromise your opponent.

No real damage like the damage associated with the ballistic shockwave generated by an actual round fired from a pistol or rifle. So, I'm not to sure about killing an animal (deer, i.e.) with that thing, and you'll probably end up chasing after the poor, wounded thing.

"Top Shot" had an episode where they used slingshot in a few of their competitions.

I thought this was a myth. The slingshot could still put a hole in your target. It's a matter of having the right equipment for the game. I think this guys slingshots could take a deer.

I disagree. Small game (rabibits, squirrels, fowl, etc.), yes. With a deer or larger, you have a ribcage and tougher muscle/connective tissue you need to penetrate in order to get the heart shot needed tp kill the animal instantly. A sling shot simply does not have the energy (>1000 joules @ 100M) to make the kill, nor does it have the ballistic shockwave capability to disintegrate that heart. The only way you might be able to kill somebody, or a larger animal, is maybe a shot into "the biatches occular cavity" (Obscure?) at cloase range (within 25M). Slingshots maybe have about a tenth of that energy...at most.
