Rick Santorum would be a wonderful conservative President and fight against the thieves and liars who occupy the DC bureaucracies who consistently lie to and deceive and steal and destroy Americans heritage and freedoms and pick pocket our hard earned dollars daily. May the good Lord help Americans understand the truth and elect a fine conservative like Rick Santorum so that God may bless our nation once again.

I am tired of this mess involving Santorum and Google. It needs to be cleaned up immediately.

The farce which the Republican party and 78 percent of its registration have become is illustrated by Santorum's transformation into the news media's "flavor of the week" (sorry 'bout that) on New Year's Eve.

Santorum Surge sounds like a sewage worker's darkest fear when they're down in the sewers.

Santorum's staunch opposition to the homosexual and its agenda is a good start, but this is no time for timidity. We need a bold, progressive human rights agenda, not limp-wristed half measures.

I have a question for conservatives. Since you're so contemptuous of Obama's "hope" and "change" campaign themes, what do you suppose next year's GOP candidate will choose for his campaign themes? Stagnation and despair?

The best thing about the GOP slate is they've included a basically rational candidate as some sort of experimental control. The failure of Huntsman as a serious candidate tells the interested everything they need to know about the all encompassing failure of the GOP.

2011-12-31 09:45:29 PM
Santorum spoke to about 60 people at a town hall meeting in the Coralville City Council chambers. About half of the crowd was Iowa and national news media who are covering his campaign, which has appeared to be gaining momentum heading into Tuesday's Iowa Caucuses.

It is as if there is this intersection where trainwrecks keep happening, and the press has decided to set up camp near that intersection while waiting for the next trainwreck.

Look, all these polls up to now are irrelevant. They are just noise. Some organization calls up a few hundred people and ask them an opiniion on a subject they haven't actually decided on yet. Opinion polls shouldn't be news.

The only polls that matter involve actual voting.

Yes Santorum surges... among old fuddys that still have land lines... I don't trust any of these phone polls anymore, it's been a good decade now since these types of polls were at all relevant.

Tickle Mittens: The best thing about the GOP slate is they've included a basically rational candidate as some sort of experimental control. The failure of Huntsman as a serious candidate tells the interested everything they need to know about the all encompassing failure of the GOP.

I've been thinking the same thing. Honestly, I vote (D) about 80% of the time, and I can't wait for this Republican Book Tour, I mean, Republican Campaigning season to end. That said, I find Huntsman to be a very rational, level-headed politician. Maybe he is too moderate for the primaries/caucuses, or perhaps too "sciencey" for the GOP. As I'm sure we all know, the primaries tend to cater towards the fringe (far right or far left), since those are the folks who are most likely to engage energetically in the process. I haven't thoroughly looked into all of the policies for all of the contenders since I can't vote in my state's Republican primary, but he, by far, seems like the "best" candidate to me. At least he hasn't had batshiat crazy moments that we've come to expect from the likes of Bachman, Paul, Gingrich (hypocritical ass-monkey), Santorum, and Perry.

This Santorum "surge" is just the hot weekly story, wherein the media hypes up a candidate as if they're a serious threat to take the nomination. We've seen the same damn thing with Bachman, Perry, and some of the others. These are just trumped-up stories to fill the 24-hr news channels (which are actually only 6 hours "news" and 18 hrs of opinion/commentary). It looked like it'd be Romney for the past 8 months, despite how the media plays up the "OMGZ Candidate X is ALL OVER THE NEWS and SURGING IN THE POLLS" angle.

2012-01-01 05:22:23 AM
So this poll puts Santorum at 16%, up from 8% several weeks ago. In this same time, Gingrich has gone from 33% to 14%, and the marginal of error is 3%.

This isn't a surge, it is a statistical echo from Newt catering.

So GOP campaigning is the new 11foot8?

The biggest story in America is that one of it's political parties has gone completely insane.
The second biggest story in America is that the media refuses to cover the biggest story in America.

Narrator: He was *the* guerilla terrorist in the food service industry.

Tyler Durden: Do not watch. I cannot go when you watch.

I'm guessing the Santorum went in the Hungarian goulash.
