I guess the first explorers to Africa weren't afraid of being attacked by a raging African boner. If the African guys were that attracted to the first white man they saw, wait until they was the women!

Amazing: This picture was taken in the then West African country of Dahomey - which is now the Republic of Benin.
For these villagers it was most likely the first time they had seen a camera
Funny how it looks like they know how to pose to, uh...highlight certain areas.

And the guy on the left seems very excited by the camera.

Those aren't boners. They're penis gourds. (Still probably revealing enough for a NSFW, though.)

Cool pics, but the Daily Fail must be hard up for content. The TV series aired in 2007, and the book was published in 2008.

Possibly. Any photos published before 1923 are now in the public domain. However, unpublished photos would have been under copyright for 70 years after the life of the author, which would be Albert Kahn if the photos were work-for-hire. The likely much younger photographers Kahn sent around the world may not have been dead for 70 years yet. Even if we assume they were work-for-hire, still being under copyright between 1978 and 2002 allowed for the possibility of renewal into Sonny Bono/Disney infinite copyright, or something.

....as opposed to meters? Regardless, I still prefer the standard inch scale, thank you.
Think about it though, what 3 guys would stand next to each other, in the sun, with a boner. Clearly the wind isn't even blowing. Perhaps then the camera man was parading copulating wildebeest for their interest...?

This picture is from Africa, not New Guinea. I don't think Africans were advanced enough to invent penis gourds.
Nope, I think this is clearly a case of, "Hello, sailor!"

It was actually french whores battling cyborg gorillas at the Great Wall.

I know fashion changes over time but even "old" and radically foreign niche fashion usually looks reasonable if sometimes quirky. However, look at that Dutch couple, I literally laughed out loud. It's like something from a comic book.
