"Hey-o, who slams harder? Onyx or Vince Carter?"

I guess that answers that question.

That was a great game yesterday, especially because the Bulls won. Very fast paced and intense. I love the team game the Bulls play, and you can really see how good Thibs is as a coach when you look at their offensive and defensive sets compared to VDN's Clippers.

I don't know if it's my own bias, but the NBA TV announcers were awful. They were creaming their pants for everything Griffin and Paul did, then sounded half asleep with, "oh, Rose hits another 3, whatever. Oh, Noah stuffed Griffin, I guess that's a decent play. Yawn,"

Either way, go Bulls!

NBATV uses regional crews. It was a Clippers home game, so you have to expect bias.

You should hear Celtics games.

I hate to say it, and I know it's early, but I think it's the Heat's title to lose. Unless Rose were to just go Jordan Mode in the ECF, with the Mavs a shell of their former selves and the Lakers/Spurs probably not having the legs to get there, I don't see the team from the remaining list of contenders that could take them down. You'd like to think the Thunder are that team, and with a different coach and/or Rondo on the team instead of Westbrook, they might be. But as they're built right now, Heat take that Finals.

The funny thing is, Durant was the reason Carter was so open. Pretty effective way to make up for your mistake.

Why does the NBA have that weird half court inbounds thing after calling a timeout? In college, you'd still have to go full court in 1.4 seconds.

Lol, I know! Anyone playing Boston is probably a felon making lucky shots from the paint because Boston needn't be worried about defending those particular shots due to their superior game plan.

Vince Carter isn't allowed to make a game-winning shot - you had to know they were going to lose when they let Carter shoot it at that point.

They're losing close, but they're still losing. They don't have somebody that can take over in the last minute.

Rubio has been a pleasant surprise though. Not many fans up here that I know gave him much of a chance.

Is that like "people don't want to watch refs make travelling calls, so we'll let them take three steps now"?

It's not like the Mavs are really looking to repeat anyways. After years of humiliating heartache, Dallas got a ring. After the Rangers fiasco, the ability to enjoy this championship without further expectations is refreshing.

Not targeting you when I say this, but so was the shot clock. "Good for the game" and "makes money for the league" are not mutually-exclusive.

I understand the point of the shot clock in terms of playability of the game. It's not much of a game when stalling can be a valid strategy -- in any game (see also the Flyers just waiting out the trap, but the refs still blew the play dead after some time). However, I still don't understand why the half court in bounds is somehow beneficial to the game. If they don't call the timeout, they don't get the ball there.

I can't help but think if Adelman would've been coaching the Bucks game, the Wolves would've won.

/Terry Porter thought a good use of Rubio was play him at 2-guard, hiding in the corner while Ridnour played point.

This.

The Griz are the only team I can think of off the top of my head in the West with the wing defenders capable to annoy Wade and LeBron for four quarters, as well as the beef inside to potentially dominate Bosh.

7:49 is a prime example of why that kid is so good. Skills, smarts, and completely unselfish. Not to draw an unfair comparison, but Jordan would have taken that shot.

Yep. I must say that it is good to see the Mavs improving each game, I was really worried after the Denver game. I think Dallas makes it back to the Western Finals again, lose to OKC in 7.

The Bulls broadcast was just as bad. At some point late in the game, Rose put a sick crossover on Paul, prompting the announcer to shout "D. Rose is bigger, faster, and stronger than you, Chris Paul!" One of the worst examples of homerism I've ever heard in my life. Sean Elliot for the Spurs is terrible also.

Defense is evil in sports and should be done away with.

Stacey King does that on purpose. He is constantly egged on by local media. One of the radio stations even hold call in contests gathering suggestions as to what he should say next. The radio side of the Bulls broadcast is the same, only a lot more corny.

Devo: I wonder if the shorter season with more games played every week is going to help or hurt vetran (older) teams like the Spurs.

Of course it will, but it's going to hurt everyone. I think in the end a lot will ride on who has the best bench. Young teams like the Bulls have an advantage with their starters now, but injury and exhaustion are going to take a toll.
