The Onion is prophetic: Water always works well for me.

Water is alright, I guess, if you mix enough scotch with it.

I like to wash some of that scotch down with a little more scotch.

Barbarians, all of you. Clearly, the perfect companion to scotch is some nice, ice-cold Mountain Dew. Goes down smoooooth.

The so-called hair of the dog -- the notion that having a drink can relieve a hangover -- only makes a hangover worse, a U.S. family physician advises.

When worded this way, not true. A shot of whiskey in the morning after a night of whiskey drinking definitely makes you feel better. How you feel is the crux of the hangover.

Now if you want to get into how many shots of whiskey you should do in the morning you may have an argument. If you get drunk again, yes your NEXT hangover is going to be worse, but the one you started the day with is long gone.

A spicy Bloody Mary or Mimosa. Vitamins, lots of water, food, nap.

The trick is sleeping with as many layers of clothing and blanket on you as you can tolerate. Keep the body nice and hot.

Drinking doesn't cause hangovers. Stopping drinking causes hangovers.

2 glasses of room temperature Gatorade when you wake up, then go back to sleep for about an hour and a half.
When you wake up the second time, your hangover will be gone in 20 minutes.

My woman tries to enforce a "no drinking until sports start" rule on Sundays.

Football is great and all, but I can't wait for Formula 1 to start again.

Nope it works, you sweat out the alcohol but the actual sweat stays close to the body. When the alcohol gets out the sweat can seep back in.

They both stress your kidneys so it's not recommended.

It is very bad to take Tylenol (anticitipenophem).

Ibuprofen is a better choice. I try to go without either.

That's some ignorant sh*t to say. Go ahead, scarf down some Taco Bell and collapse in your bed on top of the sheets in the clothes you wore out. You'll be hurting the next morning.

Me? I realize that alcohol =/= sweat, sweat clings to the body, alcohol does not. Ever notice how that body shot you poured on her just streams away unless you immediately suck it off her?

Not when you're dizzy as fark and start dry-heaving the second you drink any liquids.

I always thought that's what a hangover was, and mild headache or fatigue was a good day, but I guess some people had non-alcoholic parents growing up.

The "hangovers" I get nowadays are way way different than the ones I got if I drank too much in my early twenties.

Age 20:
Drink 12 pack of beer in 3-4 hours
Wake up the next day not remembering how I went to sleep
Head is spinning, my surroundings are spinning
Weird nastiness in throat
Vomiting
Headache
Sensitivity to noise
Drink lots of water and/or gatorade
Feel fine in 24 hours after waking up

Age 36:
Drink 8 beers and 4 shots of whiskey in 3-4 hours
Wake up next day after 6 hours of sleep
Gravity seems stronger today
Slight chill in my sinuses
No appetite except maybe some flavored sunflower seeds
Drink some water
Feel better by dinner

I think you misunderstood. I think he was saying that no matter how drunk you get at night, have one beer in the morning and you're in the clear.

Or maybe you just get shiatfaced the next day too. NTTAWWT

If it's a Mardi Gras-grade hangover, run 4-5 miles (sweat, boy!), then drink 3 beers and eat some greasy food. No hangover can survive that.

A scotch... what? Mixing scotch with anything but a tiny bit of water or ice is a complete waste. If you want a fruity mixed drink, use cheap bourbon or vodak.

Beer and donuts always take care of hangovers.

2011-12-30 09:31:29 PM
Tacos de chorizo, some menudo, and a shiat-ton of water. The spicier and greasier the food, the better.
I also feel a lot better after a cold shower.

I don't remember who said this (Dean Martin*?), but he said he felt sorry for people who didn't drink, because when those people woke up in the morning that was the best they would feel all day.

* Rat Pack Dean Martin, not Warren Beatty's character from 'Back to School'

Ok, but your connotation of body shots seems to imply they'd be around a woman hot enough to want to do shots off of her. So...vodka in the fat rolls may disappear for other reasons.

Drinking a lot of water before bed is good for blunting hangovers.

However I will point out that beer can help you rehydrate better than water so a beer in the morning might not be a bad idea.

Going to a pre New Years party in a bit due to the fact that many friends are service industry workers (as am I) and are working tomorrow night. Here's what I am bringing: 1 bottle of Powers 12 year, 1 bottle of Nolet Gin, a case of Lagunitas Sucks Holiday Ale, 4 pack of Ommegang BPA, 4 bottles of Bells Expedition Stout, a bottle of Founders CBS, a bottle of Surly Smoke, and a bottle of Surly Darkness.

Tomorrow when I get up I'm going to my favorite brunch spot for Bloodys and eggs Benedict followed by a 10 hour session of Skyrim, the greatest hangover cure ever.
