And until 1978, he didn't believe black people were people. He's flip-flopping all over the place.

This should be good. Obama can just re-use all the same adds that Bush used against Kerry.

This will be an important election on one hand you have a Candidate who:

Is for Universal health care.
Supports a woman's right to choose.
Supports the rights of gays.
Supports relaxed immigration laws.

and a candidate who:

Is against universal health care.
Strongly supports "personhood" making abortion murder.
Anti-gay rights
Wants much tighter immigration laws.

Both candidates are Mitt Romney.

Why do that when he can run ones that are true?

I'd LOL but if Obama didn't use the "Mission Accomplished" banner when he got OBL then I doubt he'll use anything from Bush's campaign against Kerry.

When you have hope for a future, you govern from a positive progressive outlook. When you have no future, you tell people it's each other's fault and to hate and judge each other. Plain and simple Realpolitik for the working politician.

He's this year's John Kerry sans decorated veteran status

He is basically the worst qualities of John Kerry and John Edwards put together.

I keep going back and forth on whether I believe he's a flip-flopper.

2011-12-30 01:47:58 PM
Pro-lifers are out except in Iowa

This is going to be your nominee, republicans. Enjoy!

2011-12-30 01:50:50 PM
I can't believe that none of his opponents are playing the clip nonstop from the debate when he was running for governor, in which he spends about 5 minutes angrily railing against people suggesting that he might be pro life. So many great moments such as "I do not take the position of a pro-life candidate" or his "Simon Peter" moment where he disavows an endorsement he got from a right to life organization.

2011-12-30 01:52:08 PM
Other than "wanting to be president" what does he stand for? He can't even articulate that. Because he doesn't stand for anything, he just believes he should have power.

He is the biggest empty suit ever.

2011-12-30 01:52:11 PM
If you don't like Mitt Romney's stance on an issue, wait 5 minutes, he'll change it

2011-12-30 01:53:32 PM
If you don't like Obama's stance on on issue, don't worry, he isn't going to do anything anyways.

2011-12-30 01:53:34 PM
Don't worry. I'm sure the GOP will find a way to rationalize all of this after the Primaries are over.

2011-12-30 01:53:54 PM
Only one thing I know he has stood for. He hates gays who served our country! Good job douche bag!

2011-12-30 01:54:06 PM
Give them pagehits, people. They're collecting money to buy Colby King some speech therapy because he who usurped the great Throne of The Reverend Moon from his secret lair in the mountains of Kenya stole the R's.

// and gave Mallard Fillmore the bird flu

2011-12-30 01:56:47 PM
Romney is the perfect example of a modern politician. He will say anything do gain favor and votes. And he simply doesn't care that these days almost everything he says is being recorded by someone. He's the definition of an empty suit.

2011-12-30 01:57:46 PM
So what, exactly, is the difference between flip-flopping and pandering?

Oh is it the "Obama has done nothing week"? I thought it was still "Obama has turned the US into socialism week".

* HCR is about the largest change in healthcare since medicare.
* He got DADT repealed
* He took out OBL
* He helped in the overthrow of Libya without one US soldier death.
* He stopped a financial collapse happen that many people thought would be as bad as the great depression.

Maybe he hasn't done everything you hopped, but that's not that bad.

Not that Romney isn't a pandering jackass, but in theory, he's doing exactly what he's supposed to do.

We elect politicians to represent OUR needs. They're supposed to support the beliefs of their constituents, not their own beliefs. There's a reason we used to call politicians public servants.

I am delusional. You think HCR didn't get passed? You think OBL is still alive? You don't think DADT got repealed?

And I am the delusional one?

Other side of mouth: Obama did nothing!

I find it funny they call it "Obamacare" but at the same time Obama magically did nothing to get it through.

You're delusional because you give Obama credit for any of those things. The only one he deserves credit for is health care reform and that's going to be torn apart by the supreme court next year.

Also, you just said Obama didn't do anything, then admitted he did do something. Just how heavy are those goalposts?

* Ended the Iraq war with all troops out unlike John McCain wanted us!
* No longer has justice department defend DOMA

I bet I can come up with ones all day.

DADT Repeal:

A congressional bill to repeal DADT was enacted in December 2010, specifying that the policy would remain in place until the President, the Secretary of Defense, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff certified that repeal would not harm military readiness, followed by a 60-day waiting period.[6] A July 6, 2011 ruling from a federal appeals court barred further enforcement of the U.S. military's ban on openly gay service members.[7] President Barack Obama, Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen, sent that certification to Congress on July 22, 2011, which set the end of DADT for September 20, 2011.[8]

So you are saying John McCain would of certified the repeal of DADT too?

Funny I thought almost all Republicans said Obama's Libya campaign was stupid, unlawful and wrong.

Now anyone would of done the same thing including Republicans.

Which is it?

ROMNEY IS THE REPUBLICAN JOHN KERRY

Seriously guys, the effectiveness of your flip flopping attack on Romney is getting old because you keep bring up the same tired points that were thoroughly exploited in the last several months and prior campaign.

Are you telling me that the worst/freshest attacks you have on Romney is series of now over-exhausted set of talking points on flip flopping and his time as a CEO?

That's it?! Seriously that's all you got?

I guess we'll see Romney in the whitehouse 2012, because nobody cares any more about stuff that you can use to describe almost everyone in congress and the senate.

Yep. Mitt Romney is a filthy liar and a ruthless craven bastard. That's all we've got.

ib_thinkin: I thought we knew this?

I didn't know he flew to Salt Lake to brief church hierarchy on how his public positions would differ from church teachings. If magic underpants needed more legs... "Romney pointed out the irony of Kennedy -- whose brother John F. Kennedy faced attacks on his Catholicism in the 1960 presidential campaign -- launching religion-based attacks, but to no avail." (I don't remember hearing JFK flew to Rome to brief the Pope...)

It's not just abortion either, it's all reproductive rights. Planned Parenthood has some nice pictures of him at their events.

Not to play devil's advocate, but isn't this what we'd want in a candidate? Someone who would change his views in line with what his constituents say?

(although I'd rather shove a hot coal up my ass than vote GOP)
