Getting a kick. A few years back, my mom let me use her credit line at Slumberland to buy some furniture. She would mail me the bill, then I would pay it and send it in. One month she got in a tizzy, wondering why I hadn't paid the bill. I tried to trace the money order - nothing. Eventually, since it was never cashed, I was able to get my money back. Two months ago, a crazy package arrived here from the USPO. I opened it, and found my bill I mailed off. Apparently, it was found in a storage shed rented by some postal worker who'd stole about 10,000 pieces of mail. He hand't even had time to open them all...I had a lot of fun proving my mom wrong on that one!

So, how's it feel to learn that you're a moron and not the precious snowflake your parents led you to believe you were?

Last June we ordered 2 things from Amazon: the new Game of Thrones book 5, and two 10-lbs hand weights.

Amazon packs them in the same box (... ok, fine).

The make it to Capital Heights Maryland and then.... sit, for a week. And then another.

Amazon ends up shipping them again, separately. The Book finally makes it, the weights get stuck in Capital Heights, MD AGAIN!

someone in Capital Heights refuses to lift a 20 lbs box. Amazon said "try buying these weights from another seller."

Fast forward to last week; we get an e-mail from amazon that a package was damaged in transit. Guess what it was? THe box with two 10 lbs hand weights and a hard-cover book. 6 months later!.

The women got an apology from post office officials, who say they aren't sure what caused the delay.

She should be thankful it wasn't delivered in a timely manner. In that unlikely event, the USPS would be totally without any possible explanation rather than just "not sure".

It only took a little over 1 year this time? The USPS must have stopped using horses...

Philbb: Was it a Guinness bar towel?

Came in here to say that, and found myself pre-empted.

My SIL forgot to ship her gifts to my family several Christmases ago. It has been at least 5 years and an in-person visit, and she has still never given the gifts to us. I think they're more valuable relationship collateral as long as they stay unopened. Unopened, there could be a deluxe leatherman tool in there for me. If she actually gave us the package, it could turn out to be Axe brand Soap-on-a-Rope, and that would really diminish my respect for her.
