Reminds me of a story from a guy I knew years ago. He had been in the Merchant Marine during WWII and his ship had a dog. The sailors were playing with it on the deck, thew a ball that bounced over the side, and the dog went sailing over after it. Luckily someone had the presence of mind to throw a wooden crate overboard to mark the spot. The captain actually stopped the ship (or maybe turned it around, I forget which) and rescued the dog. This was in the days when German wolf packs were sinking a lot of merchant vessels, and he could have lost his command for such a thing, but the crew loved the guy and kept his secret.

Always thought the dog jumping out the window to catch a ball in the movies was fictional. LOL. Kind of makes you want to try it with a pool, a frozen pond or a mud hole. ('course it has to be someone else's dog.)
