He is old, and it's impossible that he's as fast as he used to be. But at the moment, I'll still take a slow-step Henry to a combination of Arshavin and Chamakh that have lost their mojo. If nothing else, a legend provides inspiration.

A dead Thierry Henry provides what Chamakh does right now, and I have no idea what the fark Arshavin is doing, but at least he'll always have 4 at Anfield and that second goal against Barca, so he'll always be the Meerkat to me.

If he's 1/4 the player he was he'll be a solid, and relatively cheap, 2 month solution.

Unfortunately, he seems to be going through the motions currently, and I don't know if that's because the way Wenger makes them play doesn't suit his style or if there's some other reason. I don't dislike him or Chamakh, but Arsenal is currently desperate for people besides RvP who are better at finding the net.

That's why I like signing Podolski too, and in a perfect world, Gotze, M'Vila, and a fullback that isn't made of glass, but that may be asking for too much.

And maybe Aaron and Theo will start to finish, and maybe the Ox is somebody who can put the ball in the back of the net. And maybe Frimpong and Coquelin are the second coming of Vieira and Gilberto. And maybe Arteta is a dreamy as Bob...okay, that's just silly.

Gotze has said that the only places he will consider signing with after BVB are Real Madrid and Barcelona. He sounds like every person I play FIFA 12 against online.

and yes, FIFA 12 is one long string of Barca and Real Madrid with an occasional Milan and Manchester team, or for whatever reason, Argentina thrown in for good measure.

And what I'm hoping for more than anything from Henry is his playmaking even more than his finishing. I hope he takes some shots, but more importantly, I hope he keeps defenses honest. God, I'd love to watch both him and RvP slashing around at the same time from the edge of the box.

Both possible. I've seen good players stall out and need a change of venue to shine again. My fear is that Torres will wake up.

I had this discussion last night, he's of the caliber that will retire abroad at a glamor club (think Nedved at Juve). They do get their fair share coming back once they are 30 and have kids, but I don't see Rosicky doing so. He has one more club in him and then a payday club in Russia or USA

ADubs86: It's probably not too much of a stretch to say that this game will make or break Liverpool's season. It'll be the first game in a 9 game strech where we will face 5 of the other top 7 teams in the league (City 3 times) without our best player. Anything short of a good performance here, and we might as well just write off our chances at 4th/5th spot and a return to Europe.

Remember, they still have to file the appeal for the 8 game suspension. I think Saurez will be available for Tuesday at Man City.
