FTFA:
A wild panda has been caught on camera gnawing at the bones of a dead gnu, a type of wild cow, in China's Sichuan Province.
Do many people not know what a gnu is?

I remember watching a BBC special, Wild China, they mentioned that pandas have the teeth and guts of regular bears, and are built as omnivores who could eat meat, the pandas just found it advantageous to specialize on bamboo.

"feral" means a tame or domestic animal that reverts to a wild state. Such as Rhode Island.

Subby is what, 12 years old? "Your mother insults" got old more than a decade ago yet some nerdy kids still have this delusion that they'll look cool by making those kind of comments.

Additional research has shown that most pandas cannot taste Umami/savory any more, so they don't seek out meat. Bamboo is very difficult for them to digest. If it wasn't for some unusual gut bacteria, they'd starve on bamboo.

Exactly. It's been known for decades that giant pandas are opportunistic carnivores. Or, in China, it's been known for centuries.
Hell, the Chinese catch giant pandas by baiting cages with barbecue. The pandas will smell it from tens of miles away and come to get some. They know it's too good a chance to pass up. They're specialized to eat bamboo because they live in an area full of bamboo that's easy to catch.

Even herbivorous animals are dependent on microbes breaking down the plant fibers to aid digestion. Hell, the ruminant(cows, deer, goats, wide range of grazers) stomach is even set up to better accommodate microbial growth in one of it's sections . We live in a crazy world. The same sorts of bacteria in our intestines is to blame for that dirty hippy smell thanks to the extra supply of cellulose they get from their vegetarian diets.
/Part of that dirty hippy smell, that is.

The panda's only evolutionary changes to live on bamboo are a wide and stronger head and jaw, and a much thicker stomach wall. They literally have no other adaptation.

Pandas are supposed to be carnivorous, eating all that bamboo has turned them into giant pussies and that is why they're going extinct. Good job, opportunistic carnivore, you're staving off extinction one gnu carcass at a time.

Since you totally missed the wrist bone adapted to grip bamboo like an opposable thumb, I have no confidence in your claim.

I forgot about their "thumb", whoopee. Those three adaptations are the only ones they have.
No specific gut bacteria, no greatly-enlarged cecum, no elongated small intestine, no cud-chewing, no specialized teeth. Pandas are the most poorly-adapted animals on earth when it comes to their food. They have to eat
constantly
, if they sleep for more than four hours a day they'll starve to death. They shiat almost as much, and 80% of it is completely undigested.
