What the fark does "trickeration" mean?

How the hell do you manage to get Michigan State out of Lake Superior State?

I don't see "antidisestablishmentarianism".

What an insult to a fine institution of world-class educational programs with outstanding doctoral and post-doctoral programs to be confused with a second-class, low-tier diploma mill.

I don't know how Lake Superior State University could handle the insult.

TTBoyArDee: What the fark does "trickeration" mean?

It's most commonly used as a slangy description in reference to football "trick plays" like a fake punt or halfback pass.

But it's still okay to use these words and phrases, you know, ironically, right?

can someone ban the use of 'Really?'

you're not funny, you're not original.

Everyone in Harlem
Does Trickeration.

Um, no. Trickeration is a very old word, from the early 1900's (Cab Calloway did a song called Trickeration in 1931), referring to deceit of any sort.

2011-12-30 11:14:29 AM
Did this read like an Onion article to anyone else?

(to think I spent all these years thinking ginormous was coined by Jazz in the animated Transformers movie)

Balchinian: Um, no. Trickeration is a very old word, from the early 1900's (Cab Calloway did a song called Trickeration in 1931), referring to deceit of any sort.

Then roll with this one, because that's how it's been getting used. Nice to know it has a less obnoxious origin than I thought, though, because the word itself has become incredibly irritating.

svenge: It's most commonly used as a slangy description in reference to football "trick plays" like a fake punt or halfback pass.

You can add "moron" the list of words to call subby for citing the wrong university.

It's LSSU aka Lake Superior State University.

/they leave Michigan out of the title to lure people in.

Thanks for this. I've never heard or read that word so far as I can recall.

I submitted "scrapbooking" and "calendering" for the 2012 list.

Wish me luck. When I bake something, I'm not "ovening", FFS.

Lake Superior State is just like Michigan State, but without the great sports teams, the hot chicks, and the insane party atmosphere.

/ Fun Fact: First time I ever heard "trickeration" was when ESPN had that beast Pam Ward calling a Michigan State football game. Hated it instantly. Another reason broads should not be involved in football broadcasts.

2011-12-30 11:24:23 AM
Make no mistake about it, this annual banning actioning is, at the end of the day, one of the only ways Lake Superior State University can effect a larger footprint on the internet.

2011-12-30 11:29:20 AM
I agree with ginormous, it is a stupid adjective that uses two words that mean same thing, gigantic and enormous. 'We males...' - They said that?

/I derped in my mouth a bit.

In the JFK post earlier today it made me cry to see someone writing for LIFE magazine use the word 'speechify'. It made me think that if an EMP were to be set off, after the starvation and riots and wars, eventually an equilibrium would be established and it might not be such a bad thing.

2011-12-30 11:42:55 AM
What do they have against the word "Amazing?"

*Redacted* grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.

As someone who went to LSSU for two years I would like to defend it against the unwarranted attacks in this thread...on second thought, yeah, never mind.

We did win the national championship in Hockey my sophomore year though and there was a bus that took us from campus to Canada right outside my dorm where we could go into bars legally at 19. I have also been to M State parties and LSSU parties and LSSU parties were a LOT more fun. As for the women, lets just say you had to pick your spots.

"I don't even like 'Amazing Grace' anymore," she complained.

Then you need to suck it up. Because it's an Olde English word, according to the OED.

I'm with Leeds on this one.

Getting tired of the overuse of the word, "literally", especially by newscasters.

"He literally skied right off the mountain, Ric."

It's an honest mistake. I mean, who could believe that someone at LSSU has time for anything other than hockey?

All right, so what's so bad about 'Thank You in advance'? Considering how many giant screaming A-Holes roam your average support forum, it's kind of nice to know that the person submitting a request is really just grateful for you taking some time to read their request for help and render assistance is possible... Who are these farkers anyway? Not sure how they get to 'decide' which words should be dropped, are they linguistically superior or something?

From TFA:

"I'm tired of a pregnancy being reduced to a celebrity accessory. Or worse, when less-than-six-pack abs are suspected of being one," said Afton, a respondent from Portland, Oregon.

She sounds fat.

This year I have sworn to do what I can to rid the world of the word "afterparty".

There is no such thing as an "afterparty." There may be another party, or the next party, but there is no "afterparty."

Not in my world, at least. If you use that word in my physical presence you'd better have your hands up.

Lake Superior has been doing this for years too.

Which is why the Michigan State confused the f--k out of me for a sec.

/only other time I think of Lake Superior is usually during the Great Lakes Invitational
//oh wait.. that's Michigan Tech
///okay, so this is the only time I think of Lake Superior other than a random hockey game here and there

David Hollis from Hubbardsville, New York, insisted that not all men are enamored with the concept of the traditional man cave.

"It is not just overused, it is offensive to we males who do not wish to hunker (another awful word, often misused) down in a room filled with stuffed animal heads, an unnecessarily large flat-screen TV and Hooters memorabilia," he said. "Not every man wants a recliner the size of a 1941 Packard that has a cooler in each arm and a holster for the remote. So please, assign 'man cave' to the lexicographic scrap heap where it so rightly belongs."

Wanna know how I know you are gay ?!?!
