several pounds o.O what kind of threat was used? a sniffer dog?

the kids that didn't give up their loot will be popular

cool tag is indeed deserved

would dope sealed in a film canister that's had boiling water poured over it to remove any residue be effective against a sniffer?

I gave each bus a fatherly talk about skiing sober. I told them to be safe. I didn't want them skiing stoned out of their minds ...

Very sensible point

... or dying of a drug overdose."

the hell?

A police chief in northern Nevada said Thursday he decided to use the discovery of marijuana on five Utah-bound buses carrying 250 underage skiers from Northern California as a teaching moment instead of an enforcement headache.

Police chief breaks the law and fails to execute his lawful duties.
Police chief is now an outlaw.

when will he be arrested ??

The latest and greatest is a double-wrapper with chlorine bleach in the outer wrap.

Not that I'd really know anything about all that, you understand.

"250 underage skiers"

Wait just a damn second...we're talking weed here, not alcohol. There's an age limit on weed now? Where the fark have I been?

/seriously, what does age have to do with weed? It's not legal, your age doesn't friggin' matter.
//could see the point if they had hundreds of bottles of booze though.
///cool on the sheriff, though I have to think the decision resulted from not wanting to process 250 people into custody and deal with the hassle of proving who owned the stuff.

Statistically dogs sniffers aren't that accurate, they often signal there is something when there isn't when their handlers expect there to be (i.e. they know their handlers expect such and such package to contain drugs so they signal it). So if you look the part you might get flagged for manual search no matter what you do.

Underage in this case has to do with the legal standing of the students as far as being arrested and housed. Far more complicated than 250 adults

That is because alcohol is legal and easily obtainable, all drugs have the potential of being abused. Let legalize it and see what happens crowd is probably not the best idea.

Is there a way we can make this guy Police Chief of the planet... or something?

1. No. Putting pot in a film canister is not going to prevent a dog from finding it. If a dog can be trained to detect cancer then boiling a film canister is not going to cover up the scent.

2. Statistically "sniffer dogs" aren't that accurate? I'm calling your bluff. What statistics. Prove it.

Marcus Aurelius: double-wrapper with chlorine bleach

Um, mixing chlorine with bleach gets you a highly toxic gas. I believe you may be mistaken.

osafer: Yeah what could go wrong with 250 young kids getting wasted, he should have minded his own business, f-ing tattle tale....

He didn't see 250 kids 'getting wasted', he saw some kids smoking weed. I have been sober for many years, and have spent thousands of hours with recovering addicts, and cannot tell you ONE story about weed destroying kids' lives that does not involve OTHER drugs, other than legality issues.

I also find it kind of funny that you think all 250 of them were going to 'get wasted'.

Where's Singapore's drug laws when you need it.

Here:http://agcvldb4.agc.gov.sg/non_version/cgi-bin/cgi_retrieve.pl?a c tno=REVED-185

I see no problems with 250 death penalties. Quick, effective punishment that will instill fear in the masses is what is needed.

Chlorine bleach is a common chemical bleach. You know, like Clorox. You're thinking of ammonia.

I make sure that no one in the car is carrying when we go through border checkpoints. They are uncannily sensitive despite your best efforts.

Students refrain from not ruining their own lives by packing several pounds of marijuana and smoking it in a parking lot in broad daylight.

So are you saying as your experience as a recovering addict that marijuana may be a gateway drug?

Laziness. Sheer laziness. Stupid potheads will learn a lesson for about 30 minutes until they can get their next high.

2011-12-30 01:06:01 PM
It seems that cops may not understand the toxicity of weed. You would need 30 or so more pounds to get even one kid to overdose.

2011-12-30 01:06:15 PM
Best solution:

Clerk: Kids are smoking weed in our parking lot!

Sheriff: Thanks for the info, ma'am. We'll get right on it!

/Goes for coffee and donuts

The stats do show a poor percentage of "hits" to actual drugs BUT what the stats didn't take in to account was the LEO's saying their dogs "hit" on something but never actually did. Essentially the report I have seen doesn't even mention the possibility that police officers would lie that their drug dogs "hit" on something in order to conduct a search under the guise of probable cause.

We all know police officers would never lie about such things.

Yea, right. You DO read the papers? Three states that legalized medical marijuana had an unexplained drop in highway fatalities. Nothing else has been come up with to explain this stastical anomaly.

So keep telling us how BAD for us the demon weed is. I drank for 30 years, nearly died from the toxic effects of ethanol on the human body [pancreas in my case]. Long term drinking will kill ya slowly if it don't kill ya quickly.

Anyone show a verified death by weed overdose [not weed mixed with booze]? I know that almost every college campus kills a kid or two from drinking too much booze every fall.
