I'm not sure if it's true or not, but I once read a sociologist's account of cockfighting culture, and he mentioned that every society that has cockfighting has a word for rooster that is slang for penis.

I don't get why people try cockfighting in the US. If you absolutely HAVE to do it, then go to Puerto Rico where it not only is legal, but is the biggest sport in the country. You get all the modern conveniences and protections as the US and you can cockfight. Problem solved.
