Fox News is a news network; The Daily Show is a comedy/variety entertainment show. Call me when Stewart starts his own news network for a ratings comparison.

gerrymander: Fox News is a news network;

No it isn't. It is a conservative propaganda machine designed from the very start to push the republican agenda. It may throw some hard news in once in a while, but its primary purpose is to provide a platform for the GOP talking heads.

Well, but, it needs to exist to counteract reality, which is a liberal propaganda state of being.

FOX News is a propaganda network that masquerades as news.

The Daily Show is a comedy program that actually manages to integrate news into the comedy.

You'll learn more actual news from TDS than FOX News, and that's the sad truth.

To be fair, calling Fox a news network is better comedy than the half hour news hour.

This. The Daily Show is informative comedy. FOX just talks about how Obama using mustard or getting his March Madness chart wrong proves he isn't president.

Yes, the ones that watch The Daily Show are the yutes.

So is it the Transitive Property that says, therefore, Stewart has completely buried CNN and MSNBC?

Been a long time since high school algebraic proofs.

Everyone weeps about people getting their news from TDS, but hasn't that been proven to be a non-starter? I would guess that most TDS viewers also get their news from other, actual news sources, and supplement it with TDS's comedic/satirical take on it, which probably helps it to sink in, or make a deeper impact on the viewer.

Well, for one: he's entertaining. Fox News already admitted they were editorial entertainment (albeit they did so as quietly as possible). So he's got that honesty and forthrightness going for him, too.

"Not only is Stewart popular, but he is popular with the coveted young demographics that Fox News struggles with."

Fox News viewers are old?? Ya don't say...

"NCIS" is America's most watched TV show

I have no problem with this. NCIS is a fun show.

The average Fox News viewer is 65 years old

More evidence that Fox viewers yell at clouds when they're not watching TV.

The Daily Show is often just Fox News in digest format, with examples of their blatant hypocrisy thrown in for laughs. Why watch the real deal when you can get the summary?

The network's entire prime-time lineup got fewer total viewers than Stewart's one-hour show.

Spin that.

To be fair and to counteract all the ad hominems, it's a network. The Daily Show is a TV show that resides on a network. And The Daily Show doesn't even have the same content or point, as you indicated.

GORDON: Apples are way more red than bananas, therefor apples win.

Bananas have the constistency of boogers, much like Fox News, so that is a great analogy. Apples on the other hand taste like patriotic freedom!!

You're forgetting the 90s. It wasn't as instantly available then, as it was in print and on AM radio, but it was there. "Clinton News Network." Militias. And the mother of all tantrums - Newt Gingrich and the same warmed over bullsh*t he's trying to sell us now.

Well first of all John Stewart's show is a half hour long and not in prime time. Wait a minute that makes it sound even worse for FoxNews, oh well at least I tried.
