Huntsman: The only Republican that isn't a floor to ceiling phony. The only Republican that wasn't a C- slacker. The only Republican with real accomplishments. The only Republican that knows something other than things to say to please the wacko right wing.

Naturally, he hasn't a chance in hell.

There's a part of me that hopes that the current crop of clown frontrunners just drowns in each others retard drool while battling it out to see which is the bigger idiot, thus leaving the smart guy who never participated in the extra-chromosome cage match as the only one left standing.

The more pragmatic side of me fears and accepts that you're right.

The problem that Huntsman faces is that, when facing his potential voting base, he insists on appealing to logic.

She went on to say "and for a Mormon, he's unbelievably good in the sack, so he's got that going for him too."

Just don't let Mary Kaye Huntsman try to fall somewhere in between Fatboy Slim.

Huntsman was my governor twice. He was a great governor and was seriously missed when he left. He is the only one running that has any foreign policy experience. That being said - not gonna farkin happen.

A sane, accomplished, intelligent, poised nominee for the republican primary?

Not in these United States, by golly

Yep - depressing, isn't it? He's probably the most electable candidate the GOP can offer, but they're instead throwing their support behind some of the worst offerings I've seen by the Republicans since Dan Quayle.

Guess that's what he gets for not kissing teabagger sack.

I look forward to voting for him and seeing more of his hot wife and daughters in 2016, when the Republicans manage to ditch their idiot fringe and lurch their way back into relevancy.

Well, there's also Gary Johnson but his campaign is even more flaccid than Huntsman's.

/Someplace somewhere right now in Minnesota, Tim Pawlenty is kicking himself for dropping out in August

And the only Republican who doesn't have a straightjacket on his tour bus....

It's the only person on that side of the aisle I would even consider voting for. I moved to Utah at the end of his tenure, and he made a lot of people happy... And those who say he's a RINO need to remember that Utah is so frickin' red, they'd dye the entire American flag that color if they thought they could get away with it.

I concur that the poor guy has not a chance in Hell...

Yeah, I moved to Utah in 2006, I only caught the tail end of Huntsman, but people really like him here, and that's people on both sides of this particular coin. He's just not retarded enough to get the nomination, it's like the Republicans WANT to shoot themselves in the foot over and over and over and over(and over) again...

He has disagreeable social policies, but the important thing is he doesn't lean on them like everyone else does, and he seems level-headed enough to compromise on everything else.

Dunno how he would handle a Presidency though. He'd probably get devoured by the plutocracy like every other neer-do-gooder. I wish him luck though.

We do have a very small left wing movement here. After all, we did have Mayor Rocky Anderson (who was a DailyKos diarist and was endorsed in 2003 by Mitt Romney). But Huntsman was re-elected gov by an 80% vote. He has the ability to appeal across the aisle and independents love him. Which means he doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of getting the GOP nomination.

When the President asks you to be the Ambassador to China, it shouldn't matter who that President is, you take that job out of respect for the office and the chance to do something for your country. Plus, you get to be called "Mr. Ambassador" for the rest of your life!

As much as I'm a liberal who will almost definitely vote for Obama. Huntsman is a man you can respect. Even if you disagree with him. That's why the GOP hates him.

And exactly why I personally like him, especially the 'Independent' part.

Unless he gets the nomination,(Who knows? Van Halen announced a tour and an album with DLR, ANYTHING can happen, I guess...) I'll hold out until 2016 though. As bad as people make it sound, Obama, while not ideal, is far from the Antichrist. Another 4 years may give his slow ass the time he needs to keep some of his campaign promises, who knows?

Given Obamba vs. Huntsman I would take Obama. But the next election cycle I bet Huntsman will be back, and his family is worth a look....

The only man of Conservative stripes that would actually govern polls in single digits, barely even breaking 5%.

I don't see it as a referendum on the man, but more a reflection of the GOP/Teabagger side of things.

Nah, it's nice. I moved from Phoenix, so now I don't have to fear letting my kids into the front yard(And we live on the side of Salt Lake that they consider "crime ridden"), I have mountains, not only that, but it's a 20 minute drive to the mountains themselves. My rivers and streams have water in them, year round, I get to see things actually happen with the weather, I like snow, and Mormons are actually good neighbors.

That said, they need to keep their church out of the laws, but really, I like this place FAR better than Arizona, so it's a plus. There is still good beer here, despite what people say...
