FTFA: "...as an effort to help increase engagement and awareness for use of the social media tool."

Really? REALLY?
We have to make an effort to raise awareness of Twitter? It's gotdamned social media, not a life threatening illness.

Ok but it's lacrosse...

I mean, I LIKE lacrosse, but that's barely even a real professional sports league. They're paid, I get it. But are they even paid enough to not need real jobs on the side?

I think it's funny they had to hold a training session.

"Here's how you type: only one letter at a time, and you should let up on one key before pressing another. Use the long one (bottom-middle) to put distance between letters and words."

It was probably more like: "Don't tweet a half-naked picture of yourself with the team's open playbook in the shot. Don't re/tweet anything even remotely insulting. In fact, stick to things like 'won 12-7 tonight GO FILLIE #imonfirelulz' and 'SOOOOOOO hapy 2 b livin da dream makin mad stax in DA CITEE OV BROTHERLY LOVE!!! #lax4eva".

In the event you have tweeted something of actual value, the team will take disciplinary action up to and including submitting your home address/phone number to reddit.

The last time lacrosse players tried to get a job on the side, the Durham County DA got fired for gross prosecutorial misconduct.

If they are a league that heavily uses Twitter to promote themselves and encourages the players to have a heavy presence on Twitter, then I really don't see a problem with doing this once in awhile as the people that follow them on Twitter may know them better by their Twitter handle that their name. They might even end up getting a sponsorship from Twitter out of it. This even may build them a cult following of Twitter people and increase their attendance.

If you read "raise awareness" as "advertise a product" instead of "make a cause known", then you wouldn't look like such a damn fool on the Internet.

So, this is only for a single game, and the jerseys are being auctioned off after the game. They've done similar things in NCAA (and NFL, I believe) football. I know Texas Tech had jerseys that had Courage, and other inspiring words, in place of the names, with the jerseys being auctioned off after the game (for some charity, of course). So, the team isn't going to make these a constant switch. I suppose we're not quite there yet.
