Bloomies gives nary a single damn what anyone says about anything in NYC. All he cares is that tourists continue to pump money into his utopian vision of the City as a Disneyland for the rich.
That being said, if this rich TV and film stars care so much, why don't they go down to the stables and put their money where their mouth is? Offer to buy out a Handsome cab and retire the horse to a farm? You know, actually DO something.

"Glee" star Lea Michele has threatened to leave her native New York City if Mayor Michael Bloomberg refuses to outlaw the Big Apple's iconic horse-drawn carriage rides.
In a post on her Twitter.com page, she writes, "New York, u know how much I love you. But if I see another horse & carriage struggling in this winter weather I may not be able 2 be here."
Wow, doesn't sound like she said that at all. She sort of implied she may move but didn't threatened nor invoke the Mayor's name. Poorly written article.
Also, get over it, it's a horse.

Does she think that horses migrate south for the winter or something?

New York is a Disneyland for the rich. Rich people like to congregate around other rich people. Rich people choose to do that in New York.

The quotes shouldn't be around "Glee" - they should be around "star".

anyone
associated with that show that's not a self-entitled little shiat? Surely with a cast that size some of them have to be reasonably normal, non-asshole people.

Are you talking about Lea "you should have told me you were just cast in a Coen brothers movie when you asked for my autograph. I would have treated you like a human being" Michele? I'm guessing Barbra Streisand. Now she needs to file multi-million dollar lawsuits against people who take pictures of her house.

Therefore, I want her to fail in grand style.

I might try and give a damn if she not only leaves the city, but boycotts it completely. No working on TV shows, no promotions, no movie roles filmed in the city, etc.
Then I might think she's actually serious.
/I'm sure she's in line for moving boxes behind Alec Baldwin and Barbera Streisand.

But she DID do something about it: she posted a comment on twitter. Is that not enough to show how much this issue means to her?

If she leaves NYC over this where is she going to go? If I'm not mistaken just about all of the major cities in the U.S have horse pulled carriage rides and I highly doubt none of them are going to stop them. All this is is her wanting some attention, just like when a child jumps up and down on a couch and screams "Look at me".

A horse might be a beautiful animal, though it is also a beast of burden.
It works for its sustenance, no different than a human, and it is quite ok with the arrangement. Toiling a hard days work, then having food and shelter given to you is not any different than an animal in wild, having to work for the same thing.

Yeah, thought so.

Funny you mention Babs. I remember when she urged her followers to boycott Colorado because the state voted down some gay hate crime law, but she'll still be keeping her $10 million condo in Aspen, thank you very much.
It's the main reason why Matt & Trey hate her so much.

Lots of this. Granted, the slaughterhouses should be open (if they aren't already) so that should "fix" the issue.
I really don't understand PETA sometimes. The VAST majority of carriage horses are well cared for because the people operating the carriages spend a large chunk of their money on seeing to it personally. Instead of putting people AND animals out of work, why don't they focus on the people that *don't* care for the animals as they should?

Well, as the assembled horses of New York once said, it is better to die free than to live as a slave. Or perhaps that was Frederick Douglass, in which case she is a deluded fool so utterly unable to detect bullshiat that she even thinks PETA are worth listening to, and never mind any of this.

If they tied up traffic or there was horse sh*t all over the place that would be one thing but because it is somehow cruel to the horses???
This is what horses are for unless you are in France and then they eat them.
Lea Michele should confine herself to contributing to the sexual objectification of women by appearing scantly clad in magazines and on the internet.

IIRC the US has too many horses, because of some law that forbids us to export them to countries that eat them or something of that nature. So a lot of people get stuck with horses they cant take care of and cant sell.
