Hah, I was just thinking how funny it would be if they claimed to have captured one of our carries and put it on display in a high school gymnasium like that drone they had.

While I agree with that being about the only possible way Iran is going to put a dent on an aircraft carrier, they tipped their hand when they ran around with those fast boats a few years ago. Trust me, we have adapted strategies to combat that by now. I imagine we have a couple extra boats in the carrier group with mounted .50s that are ready to run screen for just this strategy.

Every year the ships come in for Fleet Week in NYC. After the USS Cole bombing they have clearly made avoiding that a top priority. The difference insecurity one year later was like night and day.

Also these bad boys have been upgraded with FLIR and other toys to engage small crafts in the last decade or so

+1 for you sir. On a side note, I hated this map at first release not because we had played it 5000to times in the demo, but the fact thar the tv missile on the Cobra could reach all the way from the carrier to the MEC base, or vice versa.

I'm more concerned that China may see this as an opportunity to send over some interesting new gadgets - based on the massive amount of defense-contractor espionage over the past 10 years - for the Iranians to test.

If this headline is any indication, maybe a few americans have finally caught on to the CorpGovMedia game.

I also wonder what they plan to do with a handful of 9mm submachine guns against a carrier group?

The CWIS systems on the Aegis cruisers that accompany any carrier has got that covered and then some. Anything that can tack and destroy an ASM in flight isn't going to find a dinghy too much of a challenge

Sure. Peaceful, but bitter rivalry between nations. Just look at the space race.

Or just plain basic R&D funding, combined with commercialization. The computer revolution was hardly brought about by warfare.
