I like my android phone (Samsung Galaxy S). It's thin, light, has a very nice screen and does what I need it to do. The ridiculous service and cost from AT&T, not so much.

Done in one. Same phone, same feelings (rooted and bloatware free)

I will say I have a Motorola Droid, 1st generation droid, and it kind of sucks. Never worked right, even the original software ran slow on it. Despite rooting it and trying different OSes, it never quite worked the way I wanted it to with the applications. Disappointed. I think it was the hardware though.

I'm holding out for the Droid 4, but honestly Apple's iPhone is intriguing. I hate supporting Apple for a laundry list of reasons but I have to admit their products work great.

In that case you oughta try a Windows Phone. Reviewers have it that the product is brilliant.

The Android market is horribly fragmented, so difficult to discuss or get excited about. There are too many brand names, cryptic-OS versions, and irregular or short-spanned product release cycles for any product to make much more than a quick splash in the press.

With Apple products, you get a heavily-speculated, predictable release about once a year for each product line, OSs with numbered versions for easy discussion (no gingerbread / honeycomb / ice cream sandwich nonsense), and a fan-base to keep the brand in the press.

In short, Androids are a clusterfark compared to Apple iOS products.

Like Apple or not, it's fascinating to think about where that company was just over 10 years ago.

The iPhone would be even more dominant if the goddamn things didn't drop calls all the time. Their radio/antenna needs SERIOUS work.

A friend of mine bought an iPhone 4 earlier this year. Had it for a couple of weeks, and got tired of the dropped calls. Verizon replaced the phone for him, saying it was defective. Of course, the replacement iPhone did exactly the same thing. He went back to Verizon, they said that there wasn't anything they could do for him. That's just how the iPhones are. He swapped it for a Droid Charge (which is actually a pretty awful phone. Third-party ROMs make it tolerable), and it has NEVER dropped a call in 6 months.

The iPhone sucks if you want to use it as a farking PHONE, which is ridiculous.

HTC makes the only android devices I actually like. That said, I'm probably going to get an iDevice next time, Android has a lot of growing up to do.

Yeah, this. Is realmolo's friend with AT&T? I have an iPhone and it drops calls a lot. However, my friend has a Nokia, is on AT&T and that drops calls a lot too.

I love my Samsung Focus(Galaxy S cousin) and will be getting a Focus S, but will wait for At&t to bring the price down to $99.
/If they don't by March I might get the 4.5" LTE Samsung Mandel Link (new window)

Virgin Mobile doesn't eliminate the bad service aspect, but it cuts the cost for me down considerably. T-Mo can cut it down quite a bit as well, especially on a family plan.

Did anyone see News Corp's - cough, sorry, I mean - WSJ's front page after Jobs's death? No joke, the article was less than 5% of the page. Now I'm not some Apple fanboy or saying that Jobs was a big deal, but he was a big deal... and obviously too liberal for WSJ.

Jobs didn't think much of Rupert Murdoch, and made that very clear to Rupie on several occasions. I think the best encounter was when Jobs told Rupie he was on his way to being remembered as the next McCarthey.

Android is totally going to dominate 2012, though. Along with Linux on the desktop.
