I heard many years ago that cigarette makers had a special store where they sold cigarettes with names inspired by marijuana slang. The purpose of the store was not to make money, but to use the name continuously in commerce to preserve the trademark on the name. When marijuana was finally legalized, Doobies® would be a trademark of some big corporation.

I doubt the 4.20 million dollar figure was coincidental. What's the fascination with the number 420? Ive heard a few theories, but whenever I hear that number being thrown around by pot supporters, I'm slightly annoyed.

This is better than that time when....

....uh, it's worse than that thing where....

....you know what, here's that song with that drum solo

Google the Waldo's of San Rafael high school, who met after school at 4:20 at a particular statue to smoke weed or something. That was the origin of the term....

It sounds like you get slightly annoyed very easily. And at things that shouldn't annoy you.

Maybe I do get slightly annoyed too easily. But what started out as a code word for smoking the good herb, has become just the opposite, unless you've been living under a rock for the past 15 years. Ive smoked it, enjoyed it, and think it should be legal, but I'm tired of people using 420 as some secret code word. It's time for a new code word. Any suggestions, Mr ganjsmokr?

I think it's more a fun tradition than code these days.

I don't have any suggestions because I don't think "420" needs to be replaced. It's just a number that is used by the stoners of society. Then again, I'm not really trying to hide anything with code words or I'd have made my handle a little more subtle...

By all means we should keep this illegal and not tax it at all.

Well, by keeping it illegal at least we keep it out of the hands of children!

The drug dealers would never allow that to happen.

Hey right, man.... I'm pretty sure my cousin's neighbor had a friend who went there one time...

Ok, Mark. I'll see if I can get the guys to start saying "419" instead. Hopefully the Man won't catch on to that.

I heard something similar, too. I think it was Phillip Morris. Something about a trademark on the packaging of marijuana cigarettes for after it was legalized.
