Is there any Catholic diocese in the United States that has not had pedophile priests?

Is there any Catholic diocese in the United States where the Bishops and Archbishops did not conspire to cover up pedophilia?

This is a serious question.

The three closest dioceses to where I live have all had hundreds of cases of pedophilia, cover-ups by the Bishops and Archbishops, massive law suits, insurance company payouts and bankruptcy of the local diocese.

Meh. Wake me when teh gheys start actually lynching archbishops. THEN they can compare the gay rights movement to the KKK. At this point, the idiot is merely attacking a strawman.

FTFA: 'One such organization is the Ku Klux Klan which, well into the 1940s, paraded through American cities not only to interfere with Catholic worship but also to demonstrate that Catholics stand outside of the American consensus. It is not a precedent anyone should want to emulate.'

What? Catholics don't speak for the majority of Americans? Who knew?

Careful, I've noticed some hardcore non-Catholics who will be fast to respond to that with "Catholics aren't Christians they worship the saints!" Yet more for people to bicker about. In any case, you'll want the large size of popcorn, it's the better deal anyway.

Anybody else see the ads the catholic church are running on tv? Hilarious! They say 'We compiled the Bible' I think 'You handpicked and edditied gospels that helped you assimilate power'; they say 'We have educated generations' I think '12 years of fear and humiliation of parochial school, never mind the Christian Brothers schools in Ireland'; they say 'We've ministered to the needy' I think 'you imprisoned girls for a lifetime of servitude in the magdalene Launbdry houses.'

the catholic church is an institution that needs to end.

From what I've seen of gay-pride parades, the closest teh geys come to KKK-style terrorist-anonymity are the drag-nuns, what with their pancake makeup. Most folks there seem to have a, hm, more relaxed dress code than the bishop.

It's called organized crime and so far, the US Justice department, the FBI, the CIA, and the DHS have turned a blind eye to it, and instead, used your tax dollars to put people with a little bit of weed in prison for a long, long time.

This is a serious answer.

And your comment made me find this: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/sns-football-fans-pictures,0,7672 49.photogallery

If the team logos weren't so apparent in some of those, it would be fun to play a game of Gay Pride Rally or NFL Game?

"Anthony Martinez, executive director of The Civil Rights Agenda, an Illinois gay rights advocacy group, told Fox News: 'The Cardinal's words are hurtful to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Catholics and the entire LGBT community."

So in other words Anthony Martinez has no idea what he is talking about. There is no such thing as a lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender Catholic.

Fun fact: If you have voted Democrat you aren't allowed to receive Communion at Mass until you have been forgiven for your sin.

waltb555: In all honesty, gay pride parades probably do more harm to the cause of gay rights than the Catholic church ever could.

The reason for this verbal tiff is the Chicago gay pride parade. Both the planned route and the times got changed for the 2012 parade, which was then scheduled to cut off all traffic from a popular church during Sunday morning services. When the pastor of that church complained, local gay rights groups responded by telling him that he should accept the new route/time because his parishioners could still enter through the church's back door.

Yes, you read that right: gays told Catholics they should be closeted, and considered this to be the reasonable response.

Hence the archbishop's admittedly inflammatory language. And of course, here and elsewhere, there are those who immediately chime in with their opinions about how bad the church is, and how no one is beating Catholics to death so they should just accept it. They really have no idea how disillusioning it is for some of us to see the people who's rights you supported turn into the same kind of bigoted assholes we opposed for decades.

There is clearly enough evidence for RICO prosecutions, but it will never happen.

1) My BF is a practicing Catholic.
2) I was baptised Catholic (which apparently means I'm Catholic for life).
3) The RCC has said that Gays and lesbians are welcome within the church (as long as they're not sexually practicing, and even so, it's forgiveable).
3) The Bible nowhere addresses transgenderism
4) You're dumb or a troll. Or both, I shouldn't limit my opinions with an incorrect conjunction.

This current anti-gay campaign by the Catholic bishops, which has been orchestrated over months to portray their bigotry as a "freedom of religion" issue, is going to backfire.
