Ah, here you are. Delicious Denny's Food Items.

Denny's menu is designed by computers. The available items comprise a set for which the computer selects a random number and combination of ingredients. Sometimes you get something that tastes ok, like the ham and cheese omelette. Other times you get a bacon sundae.

If any of you are driving up or down the interstate and pass thru Clarksburg WV and decide to eat at the Denny's they have there......don't.
You've been given fair warning.

I think XKCD did that one but I can't find it.

I enjoyed the Hooburrito while it was still on the menu. Last tim I was at Denny's I saw they killed it, but they still made it for me.

Denny's is where I go when I want to see what food looks like when it's inside my stomach.

I know I could just stay home and vomit, but then I would miss the whole social experience that I get by dining out.

My favorite - blueberry hush puppies with white chocolate chips, fried and dusted with powdered sugar. Dip it in the syrup!

Philly Cheese Steak Omelet looked damn good until I realized it's made at Denny's.

I had this badboy at Denny's once:
adnauseous.com

First bite was heaven. I go diabetes before I finished the first half. Upon biting into the second half I crapped my liver out onto the floor (they kindly offered to deep fry it and serve it to me with cheese on top but I declined. I almost finished before passing out in a simultaneous anneurism, diabetic coma and heart attack.

It's funny, my whole life I had a rather bad impression of Denny's until I stayed in Seattle for a week while job hunting. The only place open late near my hotel was a Denny's. Turns out, Denny's in Seattle, at least this one, have a pool table and a full bar. So I spent five nights in a row getting drunk in Denny's.

God I love Denny's so much. Is it every day food? Hell no. Every week food? Fark no. It's not even once a month. But two or three times a year, it's 4am, I can't sleep, I'm too lazy to cook, and I want something deep fried and worth two days of calories. And that's when I go to Denny's, and they're perfect.

Half of the entrees on the list looked fairly appetizing. Subby needs to get off his high horse and live a little.

Every time I have to go there, I regret it. Damn wife and her stupid taste in food.....

Some of these look good in theory, but I'm sure with Denny's craptastic food quality, and the fact that half of this crap is probably pre-packaged and microwaved... no thanks.

Screw you subby. The Grand Slamwich is a farking masterpiece.

The quality of the food at Denny's depends on if they are a corporate owned (indicated by the name "Denny's Diner") or franchised. The corporate owned stores tend to have the whole "bagged and nuked" type of food, as all the food product is shipped in from their corporate suppliers. Franchises can get away with ordering product from local suppliers, which may result in inconsistencies from location to location, but also tends to result in better food overall.

It's been decades since I've eaten at a Denny's. But back when I was cross-country cycling, their Humungous Bucket of Eggs and Sausage with Texas Toast was just the thing to tank up for the morning's ride. I doubt that was the actual name, but it was around 2500 calories of equal parts protein, grease, and carbs. I suspect just looking at one today would kill me.

2011-12-29 02:37:03 PM
Don't eat there often. But I know better than to expect gourmet food.
As it is, the price isn't bad the food is pretty good. At least everything I've ordered. I don't get into the wierd creations too much.

No real complaints here.

Denny's worst best menu creations.

I am so farking sick of hipster food-snobbery in this country. You should definitely not eat a "Maple Bacon Sundae" every day, but the fact that it exists and you can buy one is a beautiful thing. I've never had one but I bet they are delicious. So are Big Macs, frostys and about 1000 other things.

Bad for you =/= tastes bad/gross.

"eeewww...Ice cream...bacon...mehhh....I only eat organic tofu over romaine lettuce...Mmmmm..."

Catering to drunks is Dennys' specialty. I think all their servers are studying to be kindergarten teachers.

The last time I ate at Dennys was years ago in Manassas VA. I was working a concert at then then called Nissan Pavilion (now jiffy lube live). Man that was a rough day too hot tummy full of crap had to share beer with some singer threw up in a pile of ice out back. Got sunburn. Good times. But my colon has yet to forgive me.

2011-12-29 02:57:34 PM
Okay. The Mac and Cheese Big Daddy Patty Meltis really farking good.
I will admit that one was enough, though. I want to live past 40.

But, really. The Philly cheese steak omelet is on the list? Really? Obviously these people's idea of a good meal is a hummus and sugar-free jello casserole.

2011-12-29 03:04:36 PM
I don't see a problem with most of the items on that list other than that they each come with a coupon for a free coronary on your next visit. Although, I say this in the context of most of those dishes sounding really good provided they weren't made by Denny's.

I think XKCD did that one but I can't find it.

I don't recall it being in XKCD, but I think there was an episode of "Dinner: Impossible" where Robert Irvine has to create meals for Yahoo's ten-year anniversary or some such, using randomly-paired ingredients from common searches.

CEFM -

Thanks for that. Brilliant.

Look, I am not going to defend Dennys quality of food, but I have tried the bacon sundae. It wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible. The bacon was crispy and combined with the maple flavor and ice cream, it was a nice savory dessert. The thing that killed it... once I got through the bacon, the ice cream had melted and become a maple and cream slurry that probly grants -1 stamina and the diabetes disadvantage. I couldn't bring myself to eat anymore at that point...

/Hungry now, going to seek bacon

Also known as a Monte Cristo. Instead of syrup, I'd go with honey mustard.

What else did you expect from the rockstar menu?

/PS, that's not powedered sugar.

Most of those looked delicious. I would not eat those things everyday because I have to live a few more years but what the hell is wrong with indulging in a fatty and tasty calorie bomb now and then? Food Snobs say I should not like simple delicious food? Fark them.

The one you are thinking of is Link (new window). Basically when the CS Dept. hosts the faculty dinner party.

The Sweet Ride Nachos looked promising, everything else in the slideshow looked like shiat.

The All American SOS looked good, everything else sounded gross and I'm actually really hungry right now.

I'll have the "Just a Humongous Bucket of Eggs and Meat", please.

I'm going to have to try this the next time I make nachos. I think it will taste more like carne asada fries though.

The grilled cheese sammich with the mozzarella sticks inside of it is quite tasty.

I tried the bacon sundae. It was good, but only consisted of vanilla ice cream, crumbled bacon and maple syrup. I can make that in my own kitchen
