I wonder why his wife complains about him drinking? Maybe if she quit nagging, he'd quit drinking, right?

Deputies were told that Droste began drinking vodka about 6 p.m. and drank a whole fifth (750 milliliters) before wrecking.

Evansville police assisted Vanderburgh County Sheriff's deputies at Diamond Avenue and Vienna Road about 6:45 p.m. after a report of a car that left the road and struck several trees.

A whole fifth in less than an hour? And I thought I could drink...

Probably only 80-proof, but still, yeah that's a lot. Wonder what he weighs

W. T. Fark: Probably only 80-proof

Yeah, that's generally the strength of Vodka. And most liquors.

Anything higher proof is either done with really nigh end stuff (cask strength whiskey), gins and rums at traditional navy (94) proof, or cheap stuff frat boys drink to get hammered minus any other redeeming qualities.

on the other hand, he probably drinks this hard regularly. so while such stupidity would kill most folks, he can probably somewhat function after a lot of booze. though clearly a whole bottle in less than 45 minutes is even more than he can handle...

Let me just say that my wife won't let me bring Jerry into the house any more. There is something about that stuff, even accounting for the higher ethanol content...

I bet the BAC number was higher 'after' he crashed. Damn cops making you wait to blow to make the number go higher, when they know you just polished off a large dose of a legal moisturized drug.

/Kind of like the U.K. bar game of: 'who can blow the highest BAC tonight on the machine, before passing out in the gutter'.

I was going to say, it's not too uncommon for me to down a 5th of vodka in one night. But it does take several hours. I'm surprised he lived through all that.

Do not worry. Drunk pedestrians that get hit by cars are considered to be a drunk driving accident or death, in order to falsify the numbers past the accurate number of 33% causing death from an officially drunk driver(over .08 bac or whatever local law states).

I've got the endurance to drink all night if I'm not stupid about it. Drinking that much that fast? I'd barf up half of my body weight, assuming I didn't outright get alcohol poisoning. ...Speaking of which, at what point does that happen for most people? I'd have thought that .41 was somewhat toxic. o_O

And on the fifth word, verily, I heard, the one who controlled all. The proof of 90 showed my inherent, evil skin, all the while knowing, I would be there once again. For the words brought forth, a true burp of the grape, one that allowed me to understand my shape. It was then, within the gravity of my own skin, I realized....... I was fried.

As someone currently knocking back several glasses of Jerry, I do not approve of these messages. In fact, I condemn them. I would go so far as to abhor them, but I am not sure I am sober enough to do that correctly.

Actually they make you wait because taking a shot right before screws up the results. We even wait when we have breathalyzer contests at my sisters house.

If I read TFA correctly the .41 BA was from a blood test. Blood test BAC's tend to be higher. I'm pretty sure there was a story on Fark several years ago where a guy from Malaysia blood tested like .6 something.

3/4th of a liter in 45 minutes? the russians laugh at this amateur hour bullshiat: russian dies after winning vodka-drinking contest. "the competition lasted 30, perhaps 40 minutes and the winner downed three half-litre bottles..." (new window).

/sure he was dead 20 minutes later, but it was fun ride.

I had a patient come into the ER with a stab wound in his shoulder whose BAC came back at 0.42% (fortunately he had not been driving).
He actually was quite lucid (which I attribute to being a bit high strung after his injury).

It was uncommon, most people tend to pass out (or near to it) in the mid twenties.

D:

I think I remember that same story, but for the life of me can't remember when it was. Still, stories like these show me just how much of an amateur I am, even though I was feeling good about holding my own at the Hail & Farewell a couple of weeks ago when we were toasting with tequila. (And oh, did we get toasted!)

Yeah I'm the same way, really. I can drink beer all night long and be fine the next day. Put a 5th of vodka in me and, well, aside from the mess in the kitchen I wake up to I have no clue what happened during the last hour or two. Luckily half the time I'm playing WoW and my guildies can tell me about the stuff the next day. Hehe.

I do some stupid ass shiat when I drink cheap vodka. I learned long ago to never cheap vodka unless I'm alone. But it's never made me want to break stuff. Then again I'm probably not a proper man = P

You sound like my last guild leader. Though when he was trashed his favorite thing to do was change the guild tabard to something totally silly/stupid.

"Guys?" "Yeah?" "The GM was hammered last night, wasn't he?" "Yup, why do you ask?" "Because the tabard is white with a red lobster. I look like I'm eating at a cheap seafood restaurant. o_O"

I was told the same thing. Blew a .305, they made medics come check me out and they were baffled by the fact that I was not slurring my speech. Got my roommate to come pick me up and I went home to start a raid in WoW.

Lol. I just mess with guild notes(I'm in a pvp guild). My favorite one that I don't remember is I changed somebodys guild note to "Keyboard turner" and refused to change it back until he beat me in a duel. He lost 3-4 times before he gave up. He was not pleased.

The last one I think I just changed it to "Touched by a Dragon". Again, pvp guild, so the very idea that any of us have encountered dragons is pretty unsettling. I generally keep my sober shenanigans to arena team names, though. My armory (new window) Actually my 3's team name was inspired by Fark = )
