RAW ratings are in!

Overall viewers is up slightly for both hours, 18-49 was up in the first hour, down in the second.

Of course, that has to be CM Punk's fault. Not the holiday, or Drew Brees breaking Marino's record on MNF. Nope, all Punk's fault.

I really hope that when the quarter hour breakdowns come in, the Cena/Kane segment bombed, so they will never do another "GIVE INTO HATE, VOTE RON PAUL" segment ever again.

Oh, and a little bit more news from the sheets, from the NO FARKING DUH department

WWE officials held a meeting last week after the RAW ratings came in where Michael Cole's commentary was discussed.

TV ratings patterns show fans have little interest in seeing anyone on TV besides the top Superstars. Consideration was given to the fact that maybe this is because of Cole burying the talents for the past year.

I'm betting the person who dared say this was promptly fired, and sent to D-Lo Brown for a powerbomb.

I came in to make a "har har, wrastlin's not a sport!" joke, but you're all talking about the tv ratings and spoilers. If that doesn't say this should be in the Entertainment tab, I don't know what would.

Agreed.

Word is that Ryder got teamed with Eve because of the ratings for the main event two weeks ago.

I'm thinking someone actually noticed the #ShutUpCole sign at the show in Philly.

If the problem does not require surgery, let Randy take 4-6 weeks off for treatment and bed rest and they'll have him back in time for Wrestlemania. If the problem does require surgery, he could be out 6 months or more.

It may be time for the WWE to start rethinking their schedule. Let RAW be the showcase for what main event talent they have that aren't the walking wounded, use Smackdown to showcase mid-card and up and coming to the main event. Just do the road tours, with the exception of TV tapings, as "Supershows" and reduce the number of shows. You can't work your talent like rented mules and expect them to remain healthy.

Since when did the fans have to care about ratings?

2011-12-28 06:44:17 PM
WWE booking in general and McMahon specifically have always done better when there's a need to push new talent to the top.

As long as they don't try and force someone the fans hate (hate for the wrong reasons instead of by design) this could be a good thing for the company.

We're marks. We know ratings matter. We know if our guys don't get good ratings we'll get who the WWE (Read: Vince) decides to go with. These are generally people we have seen time and time again as we have been watching for a long time generally and it bores us.

BREAKING NEWS: Randy Orton Fails Wellness Test
By Jonas Bastians
Dec 28, 2011 - 8:16:55 PM

TheDDT.com is reporting that Randy Orton's injury angle is cover for him failing a Wellness test. This would be Orton's third fail, and if WWE followed it's own policy at http://corporate.wwe.com/company/abuse_policy.jsp#15 then Orton should have been fired.

More news as it develops. (new window)

If that is true that is quite the evolution of this story and could really hurt his legacy. These kind of actions are rated R. KO any chance of a Rumble win now.

Mark Henry's interference leading to a continuance of the feud, sets up a triple-threat at the Rumble which DBD wins by pinning one of the big guys after they both knock each other out.

AND it sets up the Elimination Chamber PPV in which Bryan will have to defend his title again.

DBD
Henry
Show
Rhodes
Sheamus
Barrett

My guess is that's where he drops the belt, then loses his rematch on the following Smackdown to clear the way for a Wrestlemania main event.

...why aren't you a WWE Booker?

That actually makes sense, and could work.

As for the Orton news that just broke (but hasn't been confirmed by any of the legitimate Sheet writers yet)... if true, he may have shat his last bag in the WWE, and Vince is probably shiatting his own bag right about now since, if he goes by his own guidelines, he has to fire his #2 face.
