Just what I need to hear. I have a 38 mile commute on the Pa turnpike between Reading and Harrisburg, and this time of year it is a big surprise when I don't see fresh deer splattered all over that stretch of road.

I kid myself by staying in the left lane when there is no traffic thinking that will protect me, but stories like this just blow that theory right out of the water.

I'm doomed.

I know a woman who was jogging and was hit by flying deer parts. lucky for her it just knocked her out and gave her a mild concussion.

I knew another kid who got hit by a full deer in a situation like this when he was driving. killed him instantly, but his passenger survived the suqsequent crash

iats actually not as uncommon as one might think

Scary. I live an hour from there. And, today is the 1-year anniversary of getting my first with the car... totaled my Jetta. Broadside hit square in the front of the grill at 55 mph. I never even slowed down. Drove the car to work.

/Hate those 4 ft tall rats.

Apparently the driver only sustained minor injuries, probably because the deer came through on the passenger side. Snopes has a mediocre write up (new window) (not much detail, but plenty more photos).

I heard about this. This happened not far from where I live. Note to self: be extra careful on the roads this winter.

A couple of weeks ago we were driving north before sunrise in my brother's truck from North Carolina to CT when I saw a car pulled off to one side of the road. Simultaneously there was a goodly bump. I said "What was that?" and my brother said "We just ran over a deer." I said "We hit a deer?" and he said "No, that guy back there hit a deer. We just ran over it." Saw three or four more eviscerated deer carcasses on the way up. Must have been deer suicide season.
