Cristiano Ronaldo prefers La Liga to EPL. Well, that does make sense, he only has to play one other good team every year in Spain

I fully expect him to spend the last 2 years of his career at Porto, as a home coming of sorts, where he will royally suck.

Right- because having 1 or 2 dominant teams in the league means it's better than a league where you're challenged every week.
23 different clubs have won the EPL championship. Only 9 have won La Liga. Wow- could it be Barca or Real Madrid again this year? I can make the case for 4 or 5 EPL clubs to win the championship this year, although I think the Manchester duos are heads above anyone else. But La Liga? If you think it's not going to be Barcelona or Real Madrid, you're high.
I personally think Barca's the best team in the world, but that the EPL is stronger than La Liga, overall.

Considering he was in the top 3 in goal scoring in the EPL for 3 straight years, I don't think he worried too much about it.
Not to mention, the 3 years he was a starter at Man U he only played Stoke city 2 times and in one of the games scored 2 goals and had an assist.

La Liga having 2 super teams does not discount the other teams.
The EPL is more competitive, and the lower teams are better than the lower La Liga teams, but the 2nd tier teams, Seville, Valencia, etc are on par with the 2nd tier EPL teams like Spurs, Liverpool, etc.
Spanish teams have won 4 of the last 10 Europa league cups. English teams 0.

The EPL has only existed since 1992. That makes it impossible for there to have been 23 winners. As far as I can recall there have only been four teams to win the EPL: Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Blackburn Rovers. I have a feeling that Manchester City are going to swell that list to a dizzying five. Still less than nine though.

That's because the second tier doesn't care about Europa League. It's weird, but they don't. Spurs couldn't care less that they're out of it, and they played kids during their run, they want top 4 and Champions League, same as Liverpool. You have the third tier giving it a real go in the Europa League and that's why you don't see and champions. Stoke, Fulham, Birmingham, those are the sides that really want to do well in the Europa League.

As an overall body of work the EPL is probably better than La Liga, in that the middle to lower teams play at a higher level and can challenge the big boys. La Liga is unfortunately a league that exists primarily to produce players for EPL transfers and to support the ongoing Barcelona / Real Madrid rivalry, with precious little opportunity for any other teams to become relevant. That said, those two top teams are in my opinion superior to whichever team wins the EPL in a given year.

Doesn't that sort of prove the point? Arsenal and Chelsea are 4th and 5th and still won their groups. Look at the La Liga table, Levante and Osasuna are 4th and 5th respectively, are they even in the same universe as clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal? Hell, Liverpool can barley even sniff the Champions League these days and they're one of the biggest, most famous clubs in the world.

EPL is a mercenary league, at least in La Liga we see a much higher ratio of Spanish players.
Look at the lineups of the better EPL teams v better La Liga teams. Kinda puts England back in their place, again. Yeah, Galacticos are poachers across the world (with many Spaniards) but on aggregate it's not even close.

Forget the skill level, championships won, blah blah blah, EPL is just far more enjoyable to watch. Much, MUCH less diving, a much better parity in skill (you can get teams in the bottom 8 to play really awesome matches that are just as enjoyable as those in the top 4), more physical and better crowds.
Who in here can even name 10 teams in La Liga, let alone all 20? I'm betting most people could easily name 10 teams in the EPL and most can probably do all 20. EPL is what you watch when you want a good match and know that at least 3 or 4 of the 10am games will be interesting. La Liga you watch when Real or Barca are playing and Italian League is what you watch when you want to sleep.
Bundesliga is also quite enjoyable to watch, but the only English broadcasts are at 930 on GOLTV when all the good English games are on or the odd match on ESPN3 that never gets advertised.

EPL has plenty of diving.
EPL constantly claims it has the best *insert nonsense here* when facts and trophies speak otherwise.
EPL "doesn't care" about the Europa League because they lose and it would ruin the leagues image if Spuds put out a full strength side only to get dicked 3-0 by some no name team from Finland. The other European spots in La Liga are hugely competitive, but it doesn't stop those sides from competing in both competitions at once.
EPL has a two horse race. Man United vs whatever flavor of the year foreign billionaire team (generally Chelsea, and the last time a team other than Chelsea or United won the EPL was the same year a team other than Barca or Real won La Liga)
Speaking of which, the EPL is competitive because their top teams have fallen a bit, and in comparison, Real and Barca currently might just be two of the greatest sides put together that have ever played the game. Right now, realistically, only Barca and Real will beat each other. They are in a league of their own, and every other team falls in a tier somewhere below that.
There's a team in Spain with a foreign billionaire picking up big name players. Buying a bunch of big name players in the EPL with a big name coach gives you a shot at the title in England, doing it in Spain has you fighting for seventh place.
For those claiming Ronaldo likes La Liga because it's easier, maybe you forgot this but he was DESTROYING the EPL before he left. Something like 31 goals and 7 assists in 31 starts in that league in a single season.

Try as I may, I can't bring myself to care that much that the bottom-feeders of the EPL have a better television deal than the bottom-feeders of La Liga. That is, literally, the biggest difference between the leagues, give or take the current quality of the top two teams. Does the added revenue mean that the EPL minnows might have slightly stronger squads than their Spanish counterparts? Probably, but it's not like it puts them in contention for anything more than relegation ...and it doesn't even seem to make any difference in terms of determining the champion, as fewer different teams have won the EPL (4) versus La Liga (5) since the EPL was founded in 1992 (non-Barca/Real teams have four titles between them, compared to seven non-ManUnited titles in the EPL--each league would have four titles apiece outside the two best teams, as Arsenal & Chelsea each have three titles apiece).
I enjoy the EPL (and La Liga, for that matter), but I genuinely don't understand the arguments that it's a strong league top-to-bottom...particularly since the Championship generally is, at least relative to other second-tier leagues.

Off the top of my head:
Real Madrid
Barcelona
Sevilla
Villareal
Malaga
Tenerife
Zaragoza
Rayo Vallecano
Real Sociedad
Atlético Madrid
Athletic Bilbao
Levante
Mallorca
Valencia
I'm betting most people could easily name 10 teams in the EPL

Manchester United
Manchester City
Liverpool
Chelsea
Blackburn
Westham United
Leeds
Arsenal
And that's all I can recall. The "gunners" are the Arsenal, no?

"most" do all 20? Only if they're English or serious EPL fans. I'd say you'd lose that bet.

this is shortsighted. There are lots of good matches in the spanish Liga. The fact that Real or Barca are wayyy above the others doesn't make more even-matched games boring.
