I guess that's the downfall of being Phil Knight's alma mater: you're always wearing the Emperor's new clothes.

But those looked stupid. Not to mention being the least effective "super soldiers" in the history of of anything.

Director to designer re: Anubis soldiers: NO I WANT THEM COVERED IN EVEN MORE NEEDLESSLY CONVOLUTED BLACK PLASTIC

Which actually is a perfect metaphor for the Ducks' unis.

Repeating what I wrote in a previous thread:

Step 1: Outsource the production of football uniforms to giant sportswear companies such as Nike and Under Armour.
Step 2: Allow them to devalue and destroy the traditional one-or-two-or-three-color football uniform, opening the door for all length of wacky color and pattern combinations.
Step 3: Release "revolutionary" new football "uniform" at the rate that best maximizes sales of new uniforms, likely a period of "once every two or three years".
Step 4: Lol.

2011-12-28 04:42:32 AM
Meant to say "maximizes jersey sales".

To hell with this. Too late to be up.

When they do polls among actual college players, Oregon's always rate really highly. It's a very effective recruitment tool for the 17- and 18-year-olds you need to play for your football factory. Sure, old men who only like old things and want those damned teenagers off their lawns prefer stuff like Penn State's minimalism, but they don't play, and if the team wins (and in college that means you have the best players, who you lured by any mean necessary), they donate anyway. Money.

Bingo. Oregon has become a huge west coast power over the past three years. Chip Kelly now has 3 BCS bowl appearances in three years. They have the sexy offense. The stylized uniforms. The Nike money. And they've recently been sending a lot of quality players to the NFL. Stanford is going to fall back without Luck, so Oregon will rule that division for a long time. I look forward to seeing many Oregon/USC championship games in the coming years.

Personally, I love the black swan concept uniforms. If they came in black and white only I'd probably buy one. Maybe I'm biased here because I love the movie.

Yep.

Say what you what about Facebook or YouTube (or other similar sites), but everyone seems to agree that "like" and "thumbs up/down" is an acceptable way to applaud posts.

I should start marking all the dumb comments as smart and all the smart comments as funny.

I appreciate that Oregon and Nike are at least trying something different, but their unis are hit or miss for me. This one's a hit. I like it a lot.

This. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. You never make things better by never trying anything new. And these uniforms are vastly superior to many of their other recent ones.

They do it to themselves. Most classless fan base in the nation. However, I think UW will do well against Baylor. If not Holt will be gone.

Before Nike they weren't O, they were 0. Nike is bankrolling the damn team. I guess it's like the NY Yankees in a weird way... but all that money couldn't help em beat LSU, and probably won't ever.

They did the same with MSU's Spartan uni's earlier in the year for the MSU v. UofM game. At least they left Oregon with the correct colors, MSU is green and white. I actually think both of them look pretty awesome, regardless of the obvious cash grab.

They are still a better program than they were 10 years ago. The have better athletes and should expect to be a top ten program for the next decade. The cash infusion from daddy warbucks and the cutting edge style worked.

Judging by their performances on the big stage, they should worry less about their uniforms and more about showing up and not getting embarrassed. Although I do get a kick out of them losing.

I'm no Oregon fan (or one of any college, for that matter), but losing on a last-second field goal in the national championship game isn't what I would call embarrassing.

In the Rose Bowl they got embarrassed by Ohio State, they got embarrassed by LSU this season, and will get embarrassed by Wisconsin...making them 0-4 in big games in the national spotlight...

I think the over/under should be 80+. Oregon is going to shred the big, slow Wisconsin defense and Wisconsin is going steamroll the mediocre, undersized Oregon defense. It should still be way better than the National Championship game.

Paul Allen already had an NBA team, and Portland won't finance baseball or football stadiums, so for Phil to buy a team he had to think NCAA.

Well hell my Alma mater is a MAC school and their bowl game was more impressive than the NC game will be! lol (also don't know that I'd consider Wisconsin slow by any means...that just seems to be an inaccurate term tied to the Big Ten, Ohio State and LSU were considered "slow" compared to Oregon and both teams trounced the Ducks)

Two types of uniforms are good.
Super classic - Never change, ever. Nebraska, Penn State, etc.

Bat Shiat Crazy - Always changing, pushing the edge. Oregon, Maryland, etc.

Uniforms that suck
Slightly changed each year (or multiple times per year) to sell more jerseys to idiots. Kentucky, Duke, Ohio State, etc

Teams that use black uniforms too damn much. Louisville, most of Big East, etc.

Using black when you shouldn't at all. Kentucky, Duke, etc.

Looking like Tennessee. Tennessee, Tennessee, etc.

/Kentucky fan

If they do, more power to them, but I think they'll get stuffed...Wisconsin is HUGE and they are not slow on offense or defense, so I think they'll crush Oregon. I am guessing 41-24 Wisconsin.
