I realized early on that twins are no different than any other schmo: instead of one schmo, you have two. So, in a way, they're kind of worse...especially if they make out with each other.

Chances are, the one on the left is the older one; often the older twin's head is
squeezed/elongated slightly as compared to the second-born one because
they squeeze through the birth canal first and loosen the muscles. This means
that the older twin's soft skull is slightly deformed as compared to the younger
one's. It isn't a sure predictor of which one is older, but in the case of my wife
and her sister, it is pretty apparent when you see them side by side (my wife is
the older one by 6 minutes, and believe me, it makes a difference).

It's an optical illusion. The one on the left is sitting up just a little bit straighter and has her shoulders back. That changes the angle of her chin just slightly, which changes the angle of light on the end of her nose. The noses are the same shape, but the angle of the light, plus the slight difference in hairstyle and the resulting shadows makes the right hand twin's nose look more bulbous.

DjangoStonereaver is right, that sometimes does happen. It's apparently not what caused this particular illusion of different nose shapes, but it does happen and it does account for some of the differences between identical twins.
