I hope the winner puts meat-spin on it.

So I can pay a lot of money to (1) increase the chance that Righthaven's investors will make money, (2) own one of the most hated names on the internet (as measured by people who like to hate things on the internet).

I could buy it and post fake press releases about victorious copyright lawsuits. I don't think that would be >$1,250 worth of fun.

It'd be almost poetic if it got acquired by a domain squatter.

Tonight's Mega Millions drawing is over $200 million - if I win, this is going on the to-do list. By the time I'm done, the name Righthaven will be synonymous with "that site with nothing but 2girls1cup embedded."

Fark should buy it and make it the 'stupid' tab.

I just realized. It's a trap. If you use the domain righthaven.com Righthaven will sue you for infringing on its trademark, the name Righthaven. Or Righthaven (company) will assign rights to Righthaven (name used in commerce) to the original investors, who will sue and recover damages that can't be immediately seized to pay the debts of Righthaven (company). And then the copyright defendants will claim fraudulent transfer, and everybody will head back to court, and in the end the only ones left standing will be the lawyers.

So, was the word "asshat" retired?

You are looking at it the wrong way. Think of a PPM approach to it. You post the fake news, people click, you make money off the ad revenue..

Remind you of any site you frequent?

If I'm not mistaken, they were required to turn over ALL IP, which includes their trademark.
