SIMPSONS PALIN DID IT!

Because Newt is too good for you Iowa.

He's mentally preparing for all the Lincoln-Douglas style debates. Brooding on his genius.

Newt remember Palin, you must appear interested even if you don't want the job, because eventually if you are not serious don't appear serious even Fox News will abdanon you.

That's because his mom wife won't let him sleep over in Iowa unless she's there.

The whole thing is amusing...

Picture Mitt Romney standing there with his politician grin going "Here I am, GOP! Your 2012 nominee!" And the bunch of blue-hairs and angry white dudes standing around, silent for a minute and then shout 'yay' and surge past him to pick up Rick Perry..

Until ol' Rick opens his mouth and a lot of smelly stupid falls out onto the people carrying him around.

So, they drop him and Mitt goes "That's okay! I forgive you!" And they surge past him again with a cheer of glee to pick up Michelle Bachmann and carry her around until she makes stupid all over them, too.

The process repeats itself five or six times, with Mitt getting ignored and slighted and ridiculed as the GOP repeatedly seizes upon derper after derper, seemingly as if they think that their support alone will be enough to magically change the morons into the Second Coming of St. Ronnie of Reagan.

And after being championed and then discarded, they've lifted Newt's fatty ass up as their chosen one yet again and they're now in the process of discarding him for a man who 'should', by any stretch of logic and reason, be relegated to the fringe of any national party. Screw you, RON PAUL

I feel almost bad for ol' Mitt at this point, but then I remember that he's a farking Republican who'd just pick up with GWB left off and then I don't feel bad anymore.

Screw em and screw Newt, too.

I'd say he got worried that he'd win the nomination and have to actually run for president instead of getting a gig schlocking his books and doing a speaking tour - except that he probably does want to be president and thinks he has a chance.

2011-12-27 12:54:31 PM
After doing some research, Newt found that his historical equals, Washington, Lincoln, and Jesus, never made more than 22 speaking appearances in any one region within a week.

THIS. I don't know if it's more cynical to assume he's trying to fail at getting the nomination or he's trying to succeed. But this is either motivated by a desire to fail or lack of financing - if you fail to collect necessary signatures to get on the ballot at all on VA you don't then respond by cutting your commitment to the next state in half.

Of course, Newt's never been all that good at commitment.

Thank you, Republican Primaries. Your Extended Derp Debates are beginning to fracture your base in support, and opened the nation to how damn crazy you all are. Before, I had serious doubts Obama could win re-election. Now, you're handing him ammo and giving him a good shot.

Personally, I think he's accepted that his exclusion from the VA ballot has effectively ended his run for the nomination and now he's just getting conservative with his spending so he'll have enough to hit the Sizzler after his concession speech in a few months.

I think Newt hired Dynamite Monkey as his campaign strategist. It's the only way to explain some of the more baffling decisions he's made (though I guess the same could be said of McCain's 2008 campaign).

Either that or he's calling the shots himself, and we just can't see how awesome he is.

Would anyone really be surprised if the GOP didn't run anyone in 2012? Just declare it a mulligan.

Well you farkers are going to get what you want. The only problem is that things are not going to turn out the way you hope. They never have and never will. Progressive and hard left policies cant work. They have never worked and never will. Smaller govt with fewer regulations that have real teeth can do a fine job of keeping business as fair and clean as is possible. Giving govt complete control over every aspect of every person's daily life and having regulations for every friggin thing under the sun to ensure "fairness" is only going to lead to extreme unfairness. HIstory is full of examples but here we friggin go again.

To clarify, they GOP is wasting time and manpower on the presidential race when they should be focusing on the legislative races. Though this elaborate derp may be a smoke screen to sneak past some otherwise unpalatable candidates in those races.

is he cheating on his Iowa bus tours with riskier, more hard-to-get bus tours in Connnecticut or Virginia?

That would be the cherry for this lolcake, but they won't do that. Conceding certain failure isn't how national parties roll. They'll run a sacrificial lamb.

I'll tell you what's already happening, though. They've privately conceded 2012 to Obama. Behind closed doors, barring a miracle, they know they're not going to win 2012, so they're looking beyond to 2014 and 2016.

If you want to know who the front-runner is going to be in 2016, wait til Obama's second inauguration speech and wait to see who responds for the GOP.

Gingrich is just waiting for that campaign PAC money to plateau. Once that happens he'll quit, use that money to purchase more books and go back on the lecture circuit.

If people are stupid four years from now and give him more campaign money, the cycle will repeat again.

Newt's not that smart, at least not extremely smart. Further, he's not even savvy, which is arguably more important for a political figure. If you don't believe me, read his writings both fictional and nonfictional. In addition to being rather clumsy with his style, he is equally as intellectually incurious as his fellows, he just couches it in florid language.

Karac: I'd say he got worried that he'd win the nomination and have to actually run for president instead of getting a gig schlocking his books and doing a speaking tour - except that he probably does want to be president and thinks he has a chance.

I disagree. He wants to be perceived as wanting it. Because it's hard to pry cash out of folks' fists if you are just on a speaking and book tour alone. If you couple them with a campaign, then you're "doing" something, and the speaking engagements increase, the cash payout increases, and the truly terrifying thing for the man would be to actually win the nomination. That would be way too much like working for a living, and that is exactly the opposite of what he wants. He wants to be a Grand Vizier. He wants to be courted for endorsements. He wants cash just for coming off his mountaintop. Actual legislation? Actual policy? That is a lot more work than he's done or wanted in years.

The sad thing? He wants his due for being a hoary headed advisor, after nearly fracturing the caucus. After being removed from office by dint of his own actions, and yet, he keeps touting "personal responsibility" as a mantra, while dodging anything resembling it for himself.

That's hardly Presidential. That's hardly even Republican. He shames the nation and the party, and that so many are tripping over themselves to cheer on this corrupt lying sack of filth, and tying themselves into intellectual and philosophical knots to try to support such a man shows how deeply ill the party is, without an intellectual, philosophical, or moral center. This is the illness that maims my party, and it saddens me that folks have fallen for such tripe...
