I'm surprised that there weren't complaints because of the pro-homosexual lyrics.

Ummm... was there any previous indication that the worker
was
going to be punished/fired?
If so, link please.
If not, nonstory.
And considering the "GO (RELEVANT AND INSEASON BOSTON SPORTS TEAM) displays on buses, this would have been quite out of character for the T.

i just hate when companies give rational responses to something an employee does and don't overact :(

There probably wasn't, but then an
unnamed local fox affiliate
started calling around to the offices & asking were there going to be in disciplinary actions for an employee who did it.
I've noticed that news stations & papers have a tendency to start making trouble than reporting on it.

True. The headline (both FARK and TFA) gave an indication that there was an adverse reaction, and this was the followup cover-your-ass story.

Be honest - you know if this person put up 'Happy Ramadan!' he would have been roasted. There wouldn't have been any 'awww, it's festive! give him a break!' from the general public, and the MBTA would have come down hard on him. Now if they let this incident go without discipline, and next year someone actually does put up "Happy Ramadan" without permission, what should the MBTA do? Because if they discipline that guy you know they're going to get a call from a lawyer the next day.

During Ramadan there's no smoking, drinking, eating, or sex. You certainly don't wish someone a
happy
Ramadan. Maybe some encouragement like "You can do it. Only twenty more days" - that kind of thing.

Oh very well then, "Happy Eid al-Adha". The point is if the announcement was acknowledging an Islamic holiday there would have been a brou-ha-ha instead of public support.
BestBuy tried it
(new window) and got a lot of flack from right-wing Islamophobes. What do you think would have happened if a public transportation system allowed it to happen without disciplinary action?
