Ahh yes falconry. It's a great way to spot and catch game...Those birds are absolutely amazing. Too bad there are either outright bans, or seriously debilitating restrictions on the practice in this country because of all the leftist animal-lovers.

This is excluding the fact that falconry had been used by humans for nearly 1500 years with astonishingly good results.

FTFA: I was lucky to witness such an event of mother nature and I was lucky enough to have a camera with me and capture it

It was NOT an even of mother nature, it was hunters sending their hunting animals after prey that they wouldn't ordinarily have come across; don't use that excuse, it sickens me.

I can understand how one would be so challenging to hunt. But, why do the deer have golden eagles? Do they perch on their antlers? What do the eagles get out of this arrangement? It can't possibly be food sharing! Deer eat shoots and berries, and eagles eat...I'm not sure, but probably meat or fish.

They used to use screaming eagles, but Dauber would have none of that.

I realize eagles are enormous birds, still, I am surprised that a deer rolling over onto an eagle doesn't leave it with broken wings.

Without training, how rare is it for an eagle to hunt a deer in this manner?

Milan, who said he was 'really happy' the fawn got away...

Milan, what do you have against eagles? You want the baby eagles to starve?

Not unusual at all. Golden Eagles in the western US regularly hunt adult antelope.

Badlands NP is a great place to see Golden Eagles.

/But Badlands is a horrible park.

When a deer and an eagle really love each other, they give each other a "special hug"....

Interesting, thank you. And yes, I'll definitely stay away from Badlands NP, and tell all my twitter followers to do the same. #LeaveBadlandsAlone

There are two possibilities: Either they eat meat, and are thus hypocritical, or they are vegan/vegetarian, in which case they are going against evolution (Homo sapiens evolved as obligate omnivores).

I was lucky enough to work with a falconer for a couple years. I think the laws are pretty good where they are.

I did too.

Funny thing is, .50AE would actually be a pretty good deer round.

Doesn't even have to be that big. Even a .44 Magnum would suffice. I used to hunt with a woman who used a Ruger carbine in .44 Magnum.

/She wore a bandolier of .44 rounds when hunting.

actually yeah they do, golden eagles eat mountain goats and deer and have a HUGE range so yes these prey species are what these birds will feed off of. furthermore humans are omniverous and have consumed the flesh of animals and plants since our emergence into the world. Hunting is a part of human history and culture and part of conservation efforts in the US as overpopulation due to predator destruction (caused by humans and disease) leads to ecological collapse so we take the place of these predators.
