Oh, and pervs, don't bother; after about ten minutes of the clothing-challenged vampiress walking around without her kit on, her nudity gets incredibly boring.

You shut your whore mouth.

Conspiracy theory and men in tights were great.
I recently found a show he did called The Eleventh Hour on Netflix, and got all excited. It was horrible, should have been on the list.

It's okay. it's called "homosexuality" and it's very natural.

But I'll offer a counter-argument in jpg form.

GAT_00: Really? Men In Tights is the worst movie? What, too many lowbrow jokes make you long for Highschool Musical?

I thought it was a pretty funny cameo in an otherwise okay, not bad but not great Mel Brooks satire. The Kevin Costner Robin Hood got the Sean Connery cameo, I thought Stewart's was funny. Not laugh out loud funny but whatever.

What sucks is how Seth MacFarlane uses him in Family Guy. They even got the whole crew together in a joke that just bombed.

Did I mention Mathilda May's boobies?

Mugato: I thought it was a pretty funny cameo in an otherwise okay, not bad but not great Mel Brooks satire.

Agreed. Men in Tights is far from Brook's worst movie and far from Stewart's worst role.

Mugato: They even got the whole crew together in a joke that just bombed.

What? That subplot was the best thing about that episode.

If you want a funny Mel Brooks Robin Hood parody, "Men in Tights" ain't it. They need to get his short-lived "When Things Were Rotten" series out on DVD.

Just my opinion.

I wasn't talking about a subplot, I was talking about the bit where Worf's head looks like a "fanny". I think we're thinking of different things.

I enjoyed "Men In Tights" in fact I was supposed to be an extra in it. NOW, "When Things Were Rotten!" Pure genius! Brooks made a common error, no laugh track. John Q needs the laugh track to tell when something's funny. "Police Squad" failed for the same reason.

Oh, wait. Now I think I know what you're talking about. That one throw-away joke. I was thinking of that episode where the subplot was Stewie essentially babysitting the cast of TNG.

The old VHS tapes I have of the series when it re-aired in the late 1980's on A&E have a laugh track. Terrible, faded prints though.

The one with the Atticus Finch guy was decent.

Lifeforce, as many have stated, does not suck, despite certain weaknesses, and certainly it's better than any or all of the ST:TNG films.

RH:MiT, same deal. It's a little creepy how Brooks tried to replace Kahn and Feldman, and a bunch of the jokes fall flat, but it's worthy.

The use of Stewart on MacFarlane shows is very hit-or-miss, but when it's good, it's good. And all the MacFarlane shows are very hit-or-miss nowadays, anyway, since he basically lost interest in them.

I actually liked that bit, and his character on American Dad is hilarious. I like in part because the shiat they get him to say sounds even funnier with Patrick Stewart's voice.

I know I'm going to get flamed for this, but I actually think Spaceballs is one of his worst. I recently rewatched Spaceballs and it was farking painful to sit through. I found it hard to believe that even as a teenager I'd liked it. There are a couple quotable lines in there, sure, but that's about it. And they're funnier in the context of conversation with your friends than they are in the context of the movie.

men in tights didn't need a cameo to save it, that's a good movie.

and although i've never heard of the movie bambi 2, based on the summary given in the article i would say i'm glad they tried to make it. that's basically the second half of the book, and without the rest of the story the first half is kind of pointless.

Insurrection is a REALLY elaborate 2 part episode of the tv series.

Nemesis fails at being an interesting movie AND doesn't feel like it belongs with the TV series.

the best summary i've seen for insurrection was something like "it was basically a feature-length episode of the next generation... and not even one of the good episodes."

i really can't imagine why anyone read that script and thought it would entertain.

Let's just say I'm getting a kick out of these comments....

"Masterminds" is Ham and Cheese Stewart, with a side of pre-Mad Men Angel-era Vincent Kartheiser.

Yeah, if by that they meant that they it did copy an episode of the TNG series, except that in the movie's case, in the same situation, Picard and crew were wrong. and the story didn't make sense. Nemesis was ridiculous and riddled with plot holes so I don't know, it's even in terms of idiocy. Well, wait. Nemesis had a dune buggy so it wins.

2011-12-27 02:38:43 PM
High Anxiety, Life Stinks, and Dracula: D&LI were by far the worst Mel Brooks films. Robin Hood was entertaining and definitely didn't need "saving" by a cameo.

As to Stewart movies, how about X3 or the atrocious Star Trek films? How many people even remembered the craptastic Pagemaster film existed? I didn't until I checked his Wiki.

2011-12-27 02:55:20 PM
Robin Hood was funny. Not a classic, but funny. It's a 5 on the 1-10 of Mel Brooks movie quality scale, and a 7 compared to all comedies, satires, and send-ups.

Masterminds is a kids movie. Can't really say much about the horribleness of kids movies. It's better than Snow Dogs, which had an Oscar winning actor in the main role.

Saw it on TNT this weekend. BAD.

Saw it this weekend as well. Didn't seem that bad. Interesting seeing a British actor do the role, as the only other true adaptation of the story(meaning not Scrooged or the Disney one) I've seen is the Scott movie(who is decidedly not British). It was well done for what it was, which is Dickens, which is generally droll, unlike Shakespeare.
