Haha, remember that episode where they tried to show how great of a singer she was? They tried desperately to launch a music career for her, I'm guessing it was lack of talent, not marketing.

She didn't play second fiddle to Vanilla Ice or Heavy D or Rico Suave....it was a guy that went on to make more money as an actor than any of us can comprehend.

And if she was that put off by it she should have not taken the gig in the first place. I would tend to think that by the show being named "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" and the word "Aunt" not being anywhere in the title she might have gotten some inkling that she was, at best, background.

That's what I never got. She know going in it was going to be a Fresh Prince vehicle. At least when Michael Gross and Meredith Baxter-Birney were resentful over being upstaged by Michael J Fox in Family Ties, they went in with the belief that they would be the main characters.

I worked at NBC during the show's run, and while I never had any direct interaction with Will Smith, I used to see him come into the commissary for lunch with his buddies, and he was extremely friendly to everyone there, from the guy who made his sandwich to the cashier who rang up his order. If you're a jerk, not only do you tend to not be nice to those people, you don't even bother to leave your dressing room to grab your own lunch - you have some underling get your lunch for you.

But yeah, the Scientology stuff, if it's true, is very weird and sad.
