Trestle bridge included or sold separately?

Can you even drive it?

BalugaJoe: Can you even drive it?

FTA:
The particular car was used mostly in the third movie, where it had most of its suspension replaced and a full roll-cage and Volkswagen V-6 engine also installed.

Any Fark mechanics want to weigh in on this particular configuration?

Comes with complementary manure.

I like when they say it's one of the "surviving" cars.

Like, what? Spielberg wrapped up shooting and said "You know? Let's just take a few of these instant collectors items that were hella-expensive to begin with and leave them in a ravine somewhere."?

Or that some trailer trash got a few of the cars and used it as a meth lab.

from the Car stars of film website..

1985, 1988, 1989 Car: 1981 DeLorean
All three films of this trilogy feature this DeLorean-turned-Time Machine. They bought six of them for the original movie. Three were built, running cars and the other three were cut up for studio use (a real crime as they only built 8,543). When the last movie was made, a rough one was found for $4000 and used for the train collision scene. The time travel stuff involved a lot of army surplus and a very large component of the equipment was a hubcap from a 60's Dodge Polara (look real close). There is an article about the construction of the cars in a 1984 issue of Popular Mechanics.

Why buy a car you can't drive?

$540K! That's seems excessive, I heard one of the movie's stars said the steering wheel got a bit shaky at high speed

If I remember correctly, Christopher Lloyd lost his house in one of the recent California wildfires, including his collection of movie memorabilia. One of which was a DeLorean from Back to the Future.

Could be wrong, too lazy to google.

Wasn't it trashed by the train?

I saw one in the Universal Studios vehicle yard when I was given a behind-the-scenes
tour by an old friend who was working there at the time. along side a KITT
from Knight Rider, a Blues Mobile, Magnum's Ferrari and the Deathmobile
from ANIMAL HOUSE.

What do you want weighed in on? They put a VW V6 engine in it.

Here's a list of what it could be. (new window)

The 1983 DMC-12 DeLorean came standard with a DOH 3.8 litre peugeot v-6 rated at 180 hp. After all the "time machine" parts were affixed to the chassis thus increasing the weight of the car, the little french engine didn't have enough power to push the car around, much less spin the tires as you see in the film. The "volkswagen V-6" was actually an air cooled turbocharged flat-six out of a Porsche 911 (pretty much a volkswagen) rated at a more potent 385 hp.

He left them in the Clayton Shonash Eastwood Ravine.

I just saw one of the cars used for recording the first Back to the Future in September so I will be getting a kick... in the future. Wound up in a Museum in Chile of all places. (^)

Cardoen is completely and absolutely loaded, but also has an international capture warrant for arms deals in the 80s (selling cluster bombs to Saddam while not being American... tsk tsk!). So the end result is a guy that's loaded with money, but has no choice but to spend it locally. He turned small town Santa Cruz into THE hub of the Chilean Wine tourism, built a 4 or 5 star hotel, casino, museums, etc. One of the best things that happened to Santa Cruz is that warrant on Cardoen!

That trilogy is very strange for me.... The first one was my favorite film for many years.... The 2nd one i only saw parts of, and the 3rd one, not at all...

In my eyes... the 2nd one was a bastardization, and the 3rd, a bastardization of a bastardization.

Its like mad cow disease. When you have cows eating other ground-up cows in their feed, then pooping out what goes into the next feed, something distasteful will happen.

That's because this DeLorean has his special "metal waxing powder" for the car.

/the true reason for the price...

My Stepdad had a DeLorean kit car back in 81. Dumb bastard broke the door off once coming into the garage with the damn thing open.
