More job killing regulation. This guy hates America.

So, does this mean we'll get more nuclear plants? Windmills and solar panels on the roof ain't gonna make up the difference, folks.

R.A.Danny: More job killing regulation. This guy hates America.

let me tell you about a crazy thing we have called "progress". in which we strive to make things better, instead of wallowing in the past.

talulahgosh: "progress"

Progress!?!?!?! How are rich fat white men supposed to get richer, fatter, and whiter with this crazy idea called progress?

fark progress, or health, if I have to spend one damn cent of my own money to do it.

The rest of the world has grown tired with your antics. We are going to go ahead and do that things that need to be done. Feel free to hurl insults from the late fifties at us while we do so.

We'll light our cigars with $100 bills while your family bakes in an atmosphere free layer of smog and we'll like it, because that's what God wanted for us.

Thank you. Now, kill that pipeline and we'll be even happier.

Check out the map and Texas becomes explainable.

Shuh-weet! I had no idea this was going on.

The fact that Texas has the most mercury pollution explains a lot.

How dare Obama tell companies that they can't pollute the air with mercury and other neurotoxins. We're living in a dictatorship! Do you really want the government telling you what you can and can't do, running every little facet of your lives?

Why should we, the taxpayers, foot the bill for something that corporations have every right to do? This kind of authoritarian nanny-state babying wouldn't happen in a libertarian society.

2011-12-26 10:51:31 PM
There is no such thing as pollution! It's a liberal media conspiracy!

/amidoingitrite?

2011-12-26 10:51:47 PM
That's great news! It's about time these grandfathered plants actually come up to code from the 1970s.

2011-12-26 10:51:49 PM
I've been informed by RON PAUL that these environmental issues can be solved with property rights, so I see no need for this legislation.

I'm not sure where they came up with 540,000 asthma or 24,000 ER visits other than the out of the butt make up a number calculation department.

But $33/person to reduce mercury doesn't sound like a bad thing.

2011-12-26 10:53:00 PM
Can't say anything anymore. Someone would call me a racist for calling Obama a tree-hugger.

2011-12-26 10:54:07 PM
This is outragous. Typical Liberal big-government solution! Don't they know that the free market will take care of these things in a much more efficient manner?

2011-12-26 10:54:13 PM
What if it's a mercury-free puppy?

"In the AP's survey," she writes, "not a single plant operator said the EPA rules were solely to blame for a closure, although some said it left them with no other choice."

The cognitive dissonance in this statement is stunning, but not surprising coming from MoJo.

2011-12-26 10:56:19 PM
But mountains can still have their tops blown off into the valleys to easily get at the coal, right?

/States Rights rule and the President is just a token position for other countries to have someone to talk too at 3am.

With less mercury more of them might actually live.

That's not how regulations work. It will affect those who live near the plants that need upgrading for the most part. Most power plants already meet the desired levels.

There's no cognitive dissonance if you acknowledge that "solely" is the key word in that statement.

Not defending Texas air pollution, I live here and its pretty bad. But I would like to see that chart in mercury per kilowatt hour and not just total. I imagine the chart would look drastically different.

but not cleaner than a CFL bulb.

of course, that is another payback for GE.

Its impossible to know what effect, if any effect, this rule will have on tbe mercury content in the fish we eat.
One thing it may accomplish is to increase energy costs, which will, in turn, favor investment in alternative energy.

I guess it shows either that O has guts or that he thinks hes a one -termer,because this is likely to be bad for economic growth in the election year.

WTF, Texas? Are you guys competing with China over who's the biggest air polluter?

I like how bumfark-nowhere North Dakota puts out and order of magnitude more than California. It must require a lot of coal to keep those seven people warm during the winter.
