More like THANK Anonymous!

Seems that the Powers That Be aren't too comfy with the idea of a group of ordinary people out there that have the means and the will to target them for punishment whenever they commit evil. And unlike a group of brown people in Hallalakaakkaasalaastan that can be blown up and made to go away, Anon cannot be targeted so easily.

The elites expected the revolution to be in the form of a group of armed malcontent militias that they can round up. They never expected a ghost army of pimply faced kids at keyboards who take down entire corporations when they're not busy fapping it to Cheetara porn.

The Democratic Party has failed us

The Republican Party has failed us

Both parties are desecrating the american democracy and committing crimes against humanity on behalf of american people.

Both parties are funded by the same mega corporations.

The same corporations that fund political campaigns

The same corporations that buy lobbyist

the same corporations that operate the united states government

note to self: remember to vote for the lesser evil...

/Not that I would plan on doing that.

well yeah, but the GOP is fearful and paranoid. Remember - if something happens that they didn't expect and/or plan, then it's the work of terrorists and socialists. Because f*ck you, that's why. it's never THEIR fault, the GOP is perfect.

I've been following comp.risks on Usenet since the late 90's. It's the only USENET group worth reading today.
After the 2000 election, there were quite a few calls for better security voting. The concerns were met with criticism and folks who raised honest concerns as being 'Sore Loserman'. Even setting aside the Florida fiasco aside, there were honest reasons to be concerned about the voting. I believe a dozen or so races in Texas had the exact same result; the same number of votes went to the Rep and Dem candidates in a dozen districts. It was too much of a coincidence to ignore but the Republicans didn't thing there was a need for a more secure system since they were clearly able to cheat better than the Dems.
Now the worm has turned. The opportunity was ignored when there was the chance to build secure voting and tallying systems. Instead they allowed an insecure system to flourish. Now the Republicans are worried about the insecure system they developed.

I just spent xmas with my two sons, 20 and 22. They pointed out this movement among young people and they live in Eugene and Corvallis respectively.

This movement (bluerepublican (new window)) is getting many a youngsters to register Republican just to be able to vote RON PAUL up in the state primaries. My boys indicate many youngsters who went with Obama are pissed off and going for RON PAUL.

I was quite impressed. RON PAUL is a serious wild card with the best national apparatus going into the cycle.

Hmmmm, Should people vote for the party(retardikins) that already have drawn up plans for at least 3 or 4 wars, or should they vote for a centrist party(dems) that is being dragged to the right?

Because People in power are Stupid: We should become suspicious if Ron Paul wins the nomination.

Never mind that. If Anonymous is going to try and screw with the election results, they should make it obvious that they were tampered with: one billion votes for moot, and all the other candidates tied at 133700 votes apiece.

Any lawyers want to indicate what kind of circus would result if it can thus be conclusively shown that a State is unable to conduct secure elections? Besides 4chan being knocked off the Internet; that's pretty obvious.

bravian: How does one stop a bunch of people standing in a room writing names on a piece of paper?

Will it be paper ballots, or electronic? The former has a bit more tamper resistance; but electronic voting machines are pretty widely deployed these days, and not all that secure.

Going to the Republican caucusin Iowa to protest SOPA is stupid anyway, but then this is Anonymous we're talking about and much like the OWS people some of them support their goals are never in sync with their methods.

That, and Anonymous tomfoolery is the perfect scapegoat for when the Iowa caucus ends up being the derpfest and complete ideological clusterfark it will certainly be at this point. Better to blame some shadowy internet hacktivist group as some omnipresent liberal threat to everything American to fear, than it is to just admit you've turned your own ideology into a fractious, cluttered morass of bigotry, intolerance, stupidity and outright neofascism and reign in your extreme elements.

2011-12-26 04:36:14 PM
You don't need hackers to really fark up the Republicans. All you need to do is get enough money, point out enough economic inequality, and the Republicans push themselves out of power. Keep in mind that the inciting incident for the Occupy movement was Fox News squawking about 'socialism' to paint Obama as a convenient Other.

The Republicans' destruction lies in Republican hands. They're destroying themselves, and doing one hell of a great job. Ironically enough, if they had backed Obama and actually passed fruitful legislation, they would have kept the Middle Class happy and kept the illusion of prosperity that their bigotry relies on alive and well. Instead, they got greedy and destroyed that illusion. And now people know exactly how poor they are, and exactly how the Republicans respond to any sort of poor person.

The Republicans don't need hackers to destroy them. They just need to keep talking.

Well, to be fair we wouldn't need those electronic voting machines to ensure free, fair and transparent elections if the damn lieberals would just stop blocking voter ID laws and insisting on fraud-ready voting laws like early voting, same-day registration, lax absentee ballots, and the declaration of election day as a holiday. Thank god they haven't gotten that last one through yet, can you imagine the chaos?

You can actually have the best of both worlds.

I'm not sure how widespread they are, but in my town the voting booths are technically electronic. However when you cast your ballot, it prints out a paper ballot which can be viewed through a little plastic window in the machine.

The paper ballot is then filed away, but can be pulled back out and recounted should the accuracy of the electronic tally be called into question.

So basically you have a security of a paper ballot with the instant feedback of an electronic one.

Kids that age are from the "post-racist" era. I'm 28 and from Maine so my experience is from one of the whitest states in the US and maybe not worth a whole lot. But people my age and younger don't know what it was like to live in a segregated society, we know there isn't really equality but it's not as bad as it used to be. I can see that a lot of RON PAUL's supporters might be able to overlook his racist newsletters which were written before they were born, downplaying their seriousness because they can't comprehend that anyone can say something like that and really mean it.

How anyone can think "Shut down the Fed / FAA / Education Dept" is good for America is beyond me, though.
