So what's that come to with interest?

2011-12-25 10:14:23 PM
He already paid it last Monday. Just a retired AW.

I'd just like to say that "The Meter Maid Rises Again" would be a great title for a spoof horror movie.

PAY A FINE
If you have received a citation, you have 30 calendar days from citation issue date to pay the fine. If a parking fine is not paid within 30 calendar days, a delinquent fine is assessed. If a fine is not paid within 90 calendar days, an additional 30 percent collection fee is added.

2011-12-25 10:20:46 PM
What is the interest rate? At 7%, compounded monthly, the internets say about 58 bucks.

But if they just doubled the fine every year.... Some ungodly number...

Here are your messages. You have 30 minutes to move your car. You have 10 minutes. Your car has been impounded. Your car has been crushed into a cube. You have 30 minutes to move your cube.

So 30% interest, compounded quarterly... 19.4 million dollars?

/Stupid internets...

"Busy, Dave?"

"Well, yeah. I am, actually."

"Oh, then you won't want to know about the two super-light-speed fighters that are tracking us."

"What?!"

"I'll leave you to your bubble blowing, mate."

"No, Hol, come on, come on."

"They're from Earth."

"Three million years away?"

"They're from the NorWEB federation."

"What's that?"

"The North Western Electricity Board. They want you, Dave."

"Me? Why? What for?"

"For your crimes against humanity."

"You what!"

"It seems when you left Earth three million years ago, you left two half-eaten German sausages on a plate in your kitchen."

"Did I?"

"You know what happens to sausages left unattended for three million years?"

"Yeah. They go all mouldy."

"Your sausages, Dave, now cover seven-eighths of the Earth's surface. Also you left seventeen pounds, fifty pence in a bank account. Thanks to compound interest you now own ninety-eight percent of all the world's wealth, but since you've hoarded it for three million years nobody's got any money except for you and NorWEB."

"Why NorWEB? "

"You left a light on in the bathroom. I've got a final demand here for one hundred and eighty billion pounds."

"A hundred and eighty billion pounds! You're kidding!"

"April fool."

"But it's not April."

"Yeah, I know, but I could hardly wait six months with a red-hot jape like that under my belt."

Awesome show and one of my favourite parts. Thanks :)

Anyone who doesn't know the reference should download/stream Red Dwarf over the new year.

Yeah, people join the military because they want to sacrifice their lives to protect our freedoms.

Amazingly, lots of people appear to actually believe this.

Uh what? I'll take a 10% discount here or there if a place offers it, but that is not why I joined. Why should I be treated in an exceptional manner?

Cue ThisNameSux to come in and call Houston a bunch of America-hating libtards.

But seriously, I doubt things would happen like this today. You'd get a ticket for a Hell of a lot more than $1, and they would keep on adding fines, late-fees, and interest until you're arrested on a bench warrant and your car is auctioned to pay the bill.

A little known fact, the parking tickets in Camp Lejeune are printed on 8.5x11 sheets of paper. Which is fairly outstanding.

Hell, even if you pay fines on time they add on a bunch of charges and fees. At least in VA they do.

You should check the court records in that state (a lot of states have them online now) because you could seriously have a warrant, and it's much better to find out now, than find out when you're pulled over on the highway in a few years.

Lol. I'm in the Army. I got back from Afghanistan a month ago. And I think that's BS. Park in a no parking area, get a ticket. Those are the rules.

I've always thought the "right" kind of Meter Maids are the seriously hot bikini babes the local business association of the Gold Coast in the Australian state of Queensland along with private sponsors pay to go around topping up parking meters so that the otherwise unsuspecting victims of the parking vultures don't get farked in the ass.

All soldiers are liable to any laws in whatever jurisdiction they are in. this is why when they are stationed in a dry country, like say.. Iraq, they are not allowed to consume alcohol so as not to violate the laws and customs of that region. the same thing applies stateside. if you commit an illegal actin whatever jurisdiction then you are liable to those crimes, base side, its up to the MP, and Im pretty sure that if your state side legal obligations interfere with your duties as enlisted, you can be fined and charged with a crime in regards to your contract with the military/

I do not claim to know any of this as fact, and I hope someone corrects me if I am wrong

Yup, and spend several months in jail since only the judge who signed the warrant can let you go, but he's probably dead after 58 years.

I'd suggest that members of the military be given stickers they would be required to place on their car to identify it as the property of a hero.
