rickythepenguin: how farked am i? wife and i agreed to get nothing for each other, i thus got her nothing.....she got me a 32gb ipod.

You don't have an emergency gift anywhere? I mean like a nice necklace or earrings or something you keep boxed/wrapped and at the back of a drawer in case of such an emergency?

I managed to walk away from being hit by a semi-truck. This could go down as either a blessing or a curse.

It looks like 2012 will probably be the year of my divorce (after 11yrs) and the year of my bankruptcy unless things get better real quick. BUT today I still have my son, my wife here (who is also my best friend), and my house. Cheers!

Bottom of the heart thanks to Sierra Integrative Medical Clinic in Reno for their expert care, helping me dodge a near fatal bullet, and thank you to the all the Divine that helped me get home for Christmas (late Friday night), the best gifts possible. Amen.

Merry Christmas! I am thankful for the love of my friends and family. And my dear husband, who I met on this very website, who this morning was all "wait, you're supposed to actually put things IN the stockings?" Bless his heart.

I am thankful for having four great kids, despite making an unfortunate choice for a (now-ex) spouse.

I am thankful for having an unbelievably great dad, despite this being our first Christmas without him.

I am thankful for the problems that I have, because the vast majority of them are solvable.

And I am thankful that this is the first Christmas in a long time where the future looks brighter than the past.

Christmas sucks. That said I am thankful that even at 44 years old my one-eyed wonder worm still works, that I have a happy, healthy family, a couple of fast cars and a place to live.

2011-12-25 11:29:45 AM
I'm thankful that my family got me singing, jiggling boobs that sing "Tittehs and beer".

PSA: All married men are required to keep hidden 1 (one) emergency gift to use in case of trap or apology. Such gifts should be small and easily concealable.

Recommended gifts include (but are not limited to): diamond earrings, pearl necklaces, spa/massage vouchers (not to avoid getting date-stamped/expiration dated vouchers), or framed photos from early in the relationship (of "a special memory")

I am thankful for the experience I've encountered this weekend involving: a german, a argentine, myself, 6 hours of making a tibetan medicine bowl sing non-stop and 15 minutes of paralyzing laughter.

I'm thankful that I seem to be showing signs of coming out of my two-plus year depression caused by the death of my mother. And that I have a decent job.

/put up my christmas tree for the first time since she died in Sept 2009.

I don't get this. You agreed to no presents and one partner gets another a present. She is the one who fark'd up - not you.

/we don't do presents

I'm thankful that my wife agreed that we could stay home today and not spend five hours on the road visiting our families.

Time for a nap dammit.

My spouse, art, and staying at home with no house guests for Christmas. Bring on the mimosas!

2011-12-25 11:33:35 AM
I'm thankful that I have everything I need, most of the things I want, and reasonably good health. For the first forty years of my life I didn't think I'd ever be able to say that.

Merry Christmas Farkers!

2011-12-25 11:33:53 AM
I'm happy that I have a warm house with two sweet dogs, a comfy place to sleep, shared with the man I've loved for more than 30 years, enough to eat, kids and grandkids that I love and that love me back. I have everything I want, everything I need to be happy.

Plus I'm thankful for Fark, and for Drew making it so that we all have a community, especially for those who need someone. We all come together in times of need, and I love you all like my own.

Well, except for you.

Tatsuma: that I have 8 days to be grateful for, not just 1

Ditto.

2011-12-25 11:34:27 AM
I don't need anything. Sure I might want some walking dead comics or a new machette, but honestly all I want for christmas is jobs for my friends who don't have them. I know one is just about to hit the 2 year mark so unless there's another extension she's SOL. another one has been out for a year. and neither is sitting on their asses, they're sending out resumes, cold calling, you name it.

Thankful for the greatest husband in the world, a son who finally got himself straightened out, a daughter-in-law who helped him, my mom and brother, and for finally being out of a huge financial hole! Gonna be a great 2012!

/and my favorite park FINALLY getting a new rollercoaster!

You have 365 days to be grateful for, Tats. Do yourself a favor and don't forget that in all your zealotry. :)

Happy Hanukkah, though!

Christmas shopping sucks but Christmas itself is great. I've got great family and great friends and once the shopping is done I love this time of year.

Did that to my partner last year... got her tickets to Billy Elliot. Good show.

We tried, and failed, to make the same agreement this year. She got me awesome headphones, among other things. I got her some DVDs and a shiny chunk of crystallized carbon.

Take her out to dinner, be her manservant for a night - all will be well.

Never, ever fall for that. Ever.
It's already too late for you, penguin, but for the rest of you farkers/farkettes....heed this rule.
1. never make this pact
2. if you do, but something for him/her anyway

Without a doubt and no matter how sappy it might seem I am most thankful for my wife and kids. Not much else matters in this world. I know that it doesn't matter if we are wealthy or dirt poor I will always have them by my side making life bearable. The older I get the more I appreciate my wife and the love she gives me (yeah, that love too), I know that no matter what, there is one person in the world that will always have my back. And of course the precious snowflakes. At times they make me want to tear out the few remaining hairs left on my head, but I wouldn't trade them for anything. They have certainly given meaning to life.

On the other side of the spectrum I am very thankful for my Great Dane, Gunner. Unconditional love and always a happy face and the ability to make me smile. A dog (or cat for you feline loving Farkers) enhances life like nothing else can.

Best wishes from my family to yours. Gunner even gives a Christmas woof to each of you!

In addition to the usual things--family, etc.--I'm extremely thankful to be in grad school now. I've never been so stressed-out and sleep-deprived in my life, and yet I'm loving every single moment of it. In fact, I don't think I've ever been happier.

\Glad to see that I'm not the only nerd on Fark who's happy about grad school.

I am thankful that I got fired in 2010. This made me get really creative and have to figure out what I'm good at. I now have a okay day job but now work nights on my own business. If things continue to go well, I will make more money in my business than my day job in 2012.

Also thankful for my 1 year old that the sperm doctor said I couldn't have, and my wife of 5 years that I was set up on a blind date with 10 years ago.

Merry Christmas Farkers
