(Mercury News) Sad Burglars steal all of a family's Christmas presents, and also the dog. Presumably to tie a big horn to the top of his head, if they can't find a reindeer, they'll make one instead   (mercurynews.com) divider line 24

More like daddy spent all the gift money on strippers and booze, and well, Fiffi barked a little too much.

Did he at least share the strippers and booze?

Step 1: Wrap a bunch of paving stones to look like presents.
Step 2: Have them "stolen."
Step 3: The community rallies around your cause and, Hey! Now they've donated more money and toys than you "had" before!
Step 4: Profit.

/Also a cynic.

As someone who's left their vulnerable ground floor flat for sunnier climes this xmas, I'm really getting a kick, etc

How do they know the dog is an innocent victim and not the perpetrator of this heinous act?

Im guessing the dog fled out one of the open doors in shame.

What kind of dog was it? All they said was that it was white. Could help, y'know, with the case.

Also, I hope they have insurance for this kind of thing, I know I do. Although my dogs would be irreplaceable emotionally, so it would still really suck.

White dogs don't steal. 'Cause, y'know, they're white. Don't you ever watch the TV news?

It takes a special kind of evil to steal a kid's Xmas presents.

No. It's a trick! Ssshh!

On a different note, TFA says the front and rear doors of the house were left wide open. Why do they think the dog was stolen rather than just wandered off?

Scum.

Makes more sense that the dog ran off through one of the open doors. Hopefully s/he will come back OK.

The robbers are still scum.
