She's lucky criminals didn't find her letter.

A 5-year-old girl from suburban Seattle sent a letter to Santa... (with her) phone number that was written along with an address.

Sounds more like a speculative US gift fishing strategy than a letter to a magical man who delivers presents all over the world in one night but apparently needs your contact details for his naughty/nice database.

/Why yes, my first name is Ebenezer

I was going to mention that this is how the kids learn entitlement really early in their lives, and that they don't have to work for what they want, just expect to get it from wealthy white folk, but I like yours just as well.

/what's this black rock in my stocking?
//extremely cool of the rancher to do that for the kid

Of course there will be the many comments here about how Santa isn't real and the girl and her mother were just looking to score free gifts, this is a crock and bah humbug. However, it is really nice to read a story that shows the good in people. Yeah it's sappy and all but I for one enjoyed reading something that was "heartwarming". Perhaps if we all took the time to help out someone by doing a good gesture the world would be a much better place. Good for the family sending the gifts and good for the little girl who found some hope in this world. And Merry Christmas to all of you.

in other news, 50+ baloons were seen leaving my porch, with a detailed list and a P.O. box.

If the girl tried to send it via FedEx or UBS then it might get there, but in the process the mail delivery personnel would had kicked it, thrown it over walls and flipped security cameras.

Good story.

It always amazes me how people can make negative comments about a story, even a heartwarming story like this.

The little girl and her family will have a great Christmas, and that is the most important thing. The parents will never forget this gesture or this Christmas.

There are millions of people struggling right now. Asking for help is a lot better than going out and stealing for it.

Merry Christmas to both families.

I never once had a problem with USPS. I think people tend to exaggerate their problems with the postal service.
/USPS is cheap and reliable
//just like Subby's mom

Why no comments yet on how the girl was an illegal alien and how it is good the rancher that found it had an illegal alien worker to translate the letter?

Why do people think that the USPS is not reliable? I have sent hundreds of letters and thousands of dollars worth of presents through USPS and not a single one has been lost. Also, all of them have been delivered in a timely manner. I have mailed thousands of dollars worth of rebate requests and I have gotten all the checks that were issued by the rebate center. I have mailed checks for bills, legal documents and signed documents through the USPS and all of them have gotten to their destination. I have gotten every magazine issue that I have subscribed to and gotten every merchandise that was mailed to me via USPS. I simply don't understand why people think USPS is unreliable!

You must work for USPS.

I snark. I haven't had a problem with them either.
