This Week in Gossip.
Hope his wife doesn't take half of twit in the divorce.

Good for Leo, that is a nice looking lady.

(RTFA and you will see he is separated from his wife)

I hate the prissy, "oh-how-could-you-do-this Leo" tone of the article. He's separated. Let him sext all he wants.

I have seen LaPorte's work for years, but have never understood why he is considered "tech." Any more than your neighbor who can change a tire would be considered "mechanical."

Leo is tech like the guy at dinner who can't shut up about the apps he downloaded.

Good for him. Nice to know the grey hairs don't stop you from getting any.

9am is too early for me though. Nothing's working till round 11ish.

C'mon the dude is a saint. There's no way a normal person could put up with the morons he deals with on his show and not lose their temper. Yet he's there, patiently listening to their moronic theories as to why something is broken, and gently explaining to them the difference between using the left and right mouse button to click.

His show isn't for tech people. Its a show for mouth breathers and old people that can't figure out how to set the time on their microwave.

I like Leo, but The "Tech Guy" blows. Meaningless prattle. Steve Gibson "Security Now" and some of the panel shows on "This Week In Tech" are the only reasons I watch. So what if Leo is boning his boss, he's the same age as me and I can't get it up. Lucky bastard.

I enjoy twit, macbreak weekly, framerate, TNT-as long as he continues putting these out I don't care who he schtups.

This is why I don't let people use my laptop. So many programs track history, or an email alert will pop up, etc. Even more so for my phone. I wish there was a program for your phone that would shut everything down except the phone app so you can safely hand your phone to somebody when they want to make a call. There probably is but I'm too lazy to have checked in the Android market.

If you have a BlackBerry just enable "Allow calls while locked".

Well considering the fact he was separated wasn't known until he confirmed it later, and being separated isn't divorced.

Aww, I have a soft spot for Leo. He did me a solid back inthe mid '90s (No not THAT kind of solid.) Leo is a stand-up guy and it's too bad this went public.

I must be a silly person but I thought this whole journalism and reporting thing was meant to dispense facts that are researched and then reported. Not reported and then hope it's true. Sure I know...blogs, but if you want the same protections as the free press...well then let's have the same standards.

He broadcast it to his viewers inadvertently and its funny because he's supposed to be on top of all things techie :P
/yah the article kinda failed to mention that despite being married (many times) that he's also separated, which is somewhat of a key point

How can you check something that's not public record? I don't think states require you to file when you and your wife separate so unless they comment or tell you then there is no way to know.

Legal separations. California has them and it requires filing paperwork in the county that you get one in. Lawyers (or paralegals in some simple cases) and county clerks get involved and everything. Eventually a judge has to sign off on it.

Well, here's what Leo himself posted in response to someone who accused him of "cheating on his wife":

Had gawker bothered to ask, @caesarscott, wife and I have been separated for a year. It's just not something I talk about on air.

Yeah, if you're going to publish an article accusing someone of cheating on his wife, you might want to, I don't know, get a comment from him.

Thankfully I don't have a BlackBerry, but if I did it'd only be issued by work and they'd have it locked down so tight you wouldn't be able to change the background picture let alone allow calls while locked. The only reason the BB app market is so terrible is because companies lock their phones down so employees can only use them to make calls and check email. This year Santa is substituting BlackBerries instead of coal for people on the naughty list. His way of supporting his country's companies.

Ehh...maybe if companies wouldn't be so tight-assed, there'd be enough of a market in the BB app store for apps to actually be developed companies could use. One of the things that blew my mind when I got my Blackberry two years ago, is there was no Black's law dictionary app for it while there was one for every other major smartphone on the market.

Every damn attorney, paralegal, intern, and law student I knew there for about three years was running around with an office-provided Blackberry. And having talked to them, it was something of a general-issue item. No Black's law dictionary app. Go figure.

Exactly this. The guy has limited to no technical skills. Most of the time he's googling the answer or asking people in the chat room for help.

/Plus he can't stop knob-slobbering for more than five seconds over Apple's 1980's product launch otherwise known as Siri.

//Wishes KFI would put something better on the air after Bill Handel's "Handel on the Law"... where he tells you you have absolutely no case.

///Finally stopped being so lazy and now turns off the radio after Handel's show. That non-stop Siri knob-slobbering was the final straw.

Yeah... As a person who is separated and soon-to-be divorced, I can't fault the guy. What? Are separated people just supposed to shrivel up and die in a corner? Good for him. Moving on with your life is what separation and divorce are supposed to be about.

He should be more careful and discreet, but this was an accidental reveal that was pounced on by some Lifehacker twits, and what Leo does in his private life is his business. Stop scrutinizing and get back to writing inane articles about the morality of hacking to turn off the "special offers" on the Kindle, or something like that.

Love the TWiT shows. Doesn't mean I have any right to Leo's personal life.
Wish we could also do the same approach to politicians - who cares who they bonk, do they do the role well? If so, their sex life is irrelevant. If not, their sex life is irrelevant, replace them with someone competent. Pretty simple really.

Generation_D: I have seen LaPorte's work for years, but have never understood why he is considered "tech." Any more than your neighbor who can change a tire would be considered "mechanical."

I build and drive race cars. Every time I mention that to a layman, I'm subjected to "Oh yeah, my neighbor/cousin/whatever does something like that." And it always turns out to be "he changes his own oil" or he riced up his Honda or something.

And then there are the fools who watch the builder shows on Speed TV and think it's simple. Protip: For every "just bolt it in" and "chuck the old part into a haphazard pile" moment they show, someone cussed and busted his knuckles for a minimum of 10 minutes. And they completely ignore the REALLY tedious shiat. And when they do deign to show something that's actually difficult (Say, tig welding sheet metal) they give you 2 or 3 "tips" that you learn in the first 10 minutes of using the tool, nevermind that you need at a minimum a couple hours experience to not fark the job up.

I'm not sure... my only real concern is that a person who's dispensing "tech advice" can't manage his tech well enough to keep private things to himself. Unless, of course he (1) meant to share or (2) is indifferent to whether they're shared, both of which are very unlikely. It's more a question of competence than morals.
