How did the original Nintendo not make this list?!

It's fun to introduce your kids and grands to the things you had as a child.

Some things never grow old...

Anyone out there who passed down their jacks to the younger generation?

Pretty sure Xbox Kinect was #1 last Christmas. Could barely find those. iPads were plentiful as far as I can remember...

I have that "Robosapien" model pictured there. Still functions, though getting to its feet from it's back now resembles what I imagine Methuselah looked like in his declining years.

Nope, but I still have the Monopoly game my parents bought me in the late 50's. It's getting pretty ratty looking, but that's from playing it a zillion times with my kids and their kids. Gonna give it to one of the grandkids one of these days...bestest family board game EVAR!

High demand and low supply does not equal high sales or top selling.

As I recall, the Wii was much bigger than the PS3 the year they launched.

Yeah I'm a little baffled by PS3's inclusion at all, but compounded with the lack of Wii is just truly bizarre. The Wii was flying off shelves a few Xmases back, if you wanted to get one for someone you had to find out who was getting the next shipment and be among the first there.

To my recollection, PS3s have never been out of stock. Anywhere.

Never even heard of that goofy robot. This list was pulled out of someone's butt.

StoneColdAtheist:[Monopoly]..bestest family board game EVAR!

I just got my wife the Pandemic board game for xmas and we opened it yesterday because some plans got cancelled due to weather. My wife usually hates board games (like Catan) but I thought she'd like this one because she is in the microbiology field. It was a big hit. We are going to play again tonight and I've contacted my friends about a game next week. It's great fun, but I think you lose a lot more than you win! I got it on an Amazon lightning deal.

I thought this year was that new leap pad that was like an iPad for toddlers.

I would bet that's actually why it made the list. "Top selling" doesn't necessarily equal "most sought-after." If all of the Wii units are sold out, getting your kids a PS3 is better than giving them a chunk of wood and a fruitcake. The large supply compensated for the fact that it wasn't the first choice gift.

The Big Deal: Really, were there any other contenders? It's the first of its kind - a slim tablet that lets you seamlessly glide between movies, music, browsing the web, and Street Fighter beat-downs.

2005 called and it says the iPad sucks.

Until the list got to 1943, I'd never seen any of those toys, and only heard of half of them, at best.

Suprised Hot Wheels didn't make the list, or the 007 Briefcase.

You rock! I loved my Stompers, and every kid I knew wanted The Frog. I even had a couple of those Battlestar Galactica toys.

As I remember, the original Transformer toys were like 70% die cast metal, not totally plastic. Damn I wish I still had mine. I got a couple of toys from the new movie-all plastic and they feel like they'll break if you try to transform them.

No. The PS3 was a larger hype, but the Wii was more available and a better machine, which is why it ended up being more of a fan favorite a few years later.
/worked retail where they were sold.

From my memories the Wii was the bigger hype because it was different but the PS3 was seen as a more "serious" console.
