Wow, I was 13 and a stack of playboys would have been more welcome but I remember getting that large erector set that year or maybe another one in that range. My favorite toy was a vertibird. Damn I wore two of them out.

2011-12-24 04:25:58 PM
Blow?

2011-12-24 04:28:22 PM
Cordouroy, a porn stache and a Princess Leia girlfriend two years early.

Really I was given my grandfather's old Erector set that he had passed down to my dad. And a new set to add on. Still have it.

2011-12-24 04:34:03 PM
So everyone wanted porn 'staches?

/I'd totally boom-chica-WOW-WOW that blonde in her [8].
//In fact I think she had a bit part in "The Erotic Adventures of Candy"

All I wanted in 1975 was a date with this nurse.

All she wanted for Christmas 1976 was a wedding ring.

2011-12-24 05:44:06 PM
Erector sets are the coolest toys ever. I loved my meccano sets!

The sad thing is all that shiat was made in America by people with good factory jobs, meaning the money stayed in the local economy and made everyone more wealthy.

Now a days we might have slightly better crap, but it's still crap, and it's made overseas. Mise well just be burning cash.

2011-12-24 05:45:39 PM
All I wanted that year for xmas was for someone to change my diaper.

2011-12-24 05:46:42 PM
Guns

Nothing says "Merry Christmas" like a 12-gauge shotgun.

2011-12-24 05:47:01 PM
I thought the cool 70's porn star stache's those dudes were sporting would be a cool thing to own how much were they I wonder?

2011-12-24 05:48:06 PM
We just wanted Mom to come home from 'Nam.
And Dad to stop drinking skim milk.
And Tiny Tim to get that helipad for his yacht.
A-and little Suzie, who only wanted gold-plated rims for her Laborghini ... *sniff* I can't go on.

2011-12-24 05:48:19 PM
To be honest, I miss Christmas in the 70's. The toys we had then were awesome compared to what kids are stuck with today.

2011-12-24 05:48:25 PM
I wanted a Post Versalog II.

/ Now get off my lawn.

^^This

Sadly, I no longer have it anymore except for the little stamped wrench/screwdriver. The large GE electric motor that came with that old set could have easily removed an appendage when used properly.

/or improperly

A bong, a Frisbee, and a Schwinn Continental.

2011-12-24 05:50:08 PM
I loved my Evel Knievel Stunt Kit back in the day. While kids today may have iPad's and other cool tech toys I would not trade them at all for the things I had as a child in the 70's.

2011-12-24 05:51:07 PM
I wasn't born until February of 1977 so my Mom was getting a kick out of these replies.

Oh wait. 1975 not 76.
/oh well.

Ventriloquist dummies?? Hahaahaha what? I was 15 in1975 and I don't remember that fad at all.

Maybe I didn't hang out with the trendy kids enough, ehh.

2011-12-24 05:53:05 PM
It's about farking time.

2011-12-24 05:53:54 PM
That Hugo ventriloquist doll (the one w/a blank face and options to customize him) creeped me the the hell out and still does. I remember mostly wanting the color orange to go away in 1975.

Dude! I could've written this. Except I was 11. Had two Vertibirds too. My Dad's hidden Playboy/Oui stash sufficed.

I loved my toys I got in the 70's, but honestly, back then if you would've given me the choice between the Vertibird and an Xbox with Battlefield 3....I woulda given my left nut for the video game.

I still have my Kodak Instamatic Camera I got for Christmas in 1975. It actually took pretty good pictures.

What SEARS THOUGHT people wanted for Christmas... in 1975

2011-12-24 06:02:27 PM
Ah, FLAME RESISTANT pajamas. Nowadays, people forget that "flame wars", before the Internet, involved frequent use of Molotov cocktails. :P

2011-12-24 06:02:55 PM
farking corderoy. That still gives me nightmares. My mom made me wear it to school years after people realized it is the Devil's material.

What everyone GOT for Christmas in 1975...

A PET ROCK!

I'll admit to wearing Toughskins as a kid. Green ones, red ones, brown ones.
But not plaid Toughskins.

Exactly how often did people catch on fire while wearing pajamas in 1975?

2011-12-24 06:09:33 PM
Somewhere Mom has a photo of me and my brother wearing plaid pants, similar to those in the first pic, taken in 1975 when were 9 and 7. I always wondered WTF she was thinking.

Then again, Mom and Dad partied a lot back then. That would explain a lot.

Flame resistant devil pj's

You didn't hear about the winter of '73? The Pajama Fire Pandemic was a horrible thing indeed.

But your Vertibird would never give you the red ring of death and yes, I loved my Vertibird too. Sadly I cannot play games such as Battlefield 3 because my wrist are so screwed up that I cannot hold a controller longer than a minute.

I can play Mario Kart though on my Wii

Damn, I miss my little corduroy pants. My mom had to patch my pants with these iron-on dealies so they'd last at least a few months.

2011-12-24 06:17:26 PM
I'd just gotten out of school. Just like now, what I wanted then was A JOB!

2011-12-24 06:18:36 PM
I remember getting English Leather after shave for christmas a lot during the 1970's.

I also remember having a beard most of that decade too.

Peugeot 10 speed. Used stereo stuff. A bedroom of my own.

And one less parent.

All that smoking and hair spray was quite a fire hazard. Why, I remember my little brother Ricky burned himself and his bunk bed right to the ground while he lit up while wearing a non-flame-retardant kimono. Rip Ricky, you only made it to 2 years but you were great.

2011-12-24 06:20:58 PM
I got a brown corduroy leisure suit. Totally hip man.
