The only thing I hate about doing rosemary garlic prime rib is that the flavors make the fat drippings to strongly flavored to do a nice Yorkshire Pudding with (it works but it tastes off), almost need to cook another rib roast plain just for that drippings, and who the fark can afford to cook an extra one plain just for the fat.

It tastes so damm good though

My cousin just called and hoped I wouldn't be disappointed if instead of ham we had steak and lobster.

Life is full of little sacrifices, but this is one I am willing to make.

We go to the my in-laws every Christmas. We'll be having Ham again...just like every other FARKING YEAR. If I ever suggested a change they would look at me like I was an alien. So Subby- enjoy your meal, it sounds great, and remember those less fortunate, like me...

We usually do a Thanksgiving-style Turkey With All The Trimmings, but I was informed by Mrs. dramboxf that two full-on Turkey dinners (and she puts out a SPREAD [insert snarky slut wife joke here]) so close together is getting tiring.

So we're doing a ham and scalloped potatoes and the kids are bringing sides. More importantly, the kids are bringing the grandkids. :) The oldest is 2.5 and the youngest is 1.5 so this is the start of about a ten-year run of AWESOME Christmases. Having little kids around TOTALLY changes the dynamic and I am simply giddy with anticipation.

We're going to early Mass then sort of having a pot luck hors d'ouvres at my in-laws. I made a French bacon onion tart (think of a big Yorkshire pudding made with bacon drippings topped with caramelize onions and bacon) and some miniature goat cheese and chorizo rolls in puff pastry.

ALWAYS drink the best stuff first. The drunker you get, the less discerning you are. By the end of the evening you'll be happy with lite beer mixed with cough syrup.

Putting cheese sauce on broccoli is like putting a landau roof on a Ferrari. I'm drooling over your lamb, though.

Every year, it's something different, but I think we'll be having prime rib and pork roast this year (We seem to go on a rotation)
The sides seem to change as well.
But the bottom line is, good food, good times, good family, and an abundance of holiday spirit (Without all the overpowering Christianity like some of our relatives...)

2011-12-24 01:32:14 PM
Stoffers lasagna and a bottle of Arbor Mist Blackberry Merlot. The large bottle.

10lb. Spiral Ham w/ Ginger Snap & Molasses Glaze
Parmesan Scalloped Potatoes

And for dessert, a Apple Dump Cake (sounds unappetizing, I know), which is apple pie filling, topped with caramel sauce, topped with yellow cake mix, topped with melted butter, and baked.

Oh, and vanilla ice cream.

And beer... Can't forget the beer.

/I can't actually - I have to pick it up on the way home tonight.

No time this year, but I'm buying a duck for my own personal seasonal meal in the next week or two.
