Anyone who gives you number 5 is not your friend. A better friend would just key your car and be done with it.

A true gift would be Bell's Hopslam, but it's not ready until January...

/Can a guy get a belated christmas present???

Won't defend most of them, but everyone I know likes Arrogant Bastard.

gilgigamesh: Like I'm gonna take beer advice from a chic?

Be nice, her taste in light beers is probably impeccable.

Arrogant Bastard is by far the most disgusting drink I've ever had. And I'm including Guatemalan egg nog and Mountain Dew.

ecmoRandomNumbers: Guatemalan egg nog

I want to know, but I don't want to know.

Those are all supposed to really good except number 5. Everybody knows Sam Addams sucks at being creative.

I drank a 22oz of ST Krampus yesterday so I'm getting a real kick...

out of the hops. just hops. no fruit, no pine needles. just hops, lady.

Another "opinion as fact" submission from someone that probably gives Bud Light as a gift.

Started brewing in July, and got good enough to give my home brew out as Christmas gifts, this year.

So I'm getting a buzz out of this thread.

I'll never buy beer off the shelf again!

I know right?

I hate having people go out of their way to give me something, and they pick something I don't like. They should farking know better.

What, Budweiser Clamato Chelada didn't make the list?

List sux, thread over.

With the exception of the Lambic those are all really good beers. I'm guess the author is a Jäger Bomb kinda gal.

i think Pumking is the best pumpkin beer out there..

that is, if you're in the mood for a pumpkin beer.

The large graphic on the right side says it all about this author.

Pine notes? In Arrogant Bastard? I'd like to know which AB she was drinking, because it is decidedly -not- piney. And Krampus has no fruit in it.

2011-12-24 02:36:12 PM
I'd be more than happy to get 1-4 as a gift. Pumking is my favorite of the pumpkin ales, and I LOVE Arrogant Bastard. Article is fail

THIS!
Weybacher Imperial Pumkin is a close 2nd.

I didn't mind the Sam Adams Cranberry Lambic. I mean, I'm not gonna sit down and throw back a six pack, but a couple intertwined in an evening of drinking wasn't bad.

Had Mad Elf the other night at a buddies house. Holy shiat. 6 and I was lying on the garage floor.

There is only one beer that is universally accepted as an excellent gift with no debate.

And that beer is

If the rest of their beers are as bad as their chocolate stout, then I am inclined to agree with the critic about Southern Tier's brews. That "Choklat" stout of theirs tasted like someone had melted a handful of Tootsie Rolls in a PBR. Truly undrinkable.

And I do enjoy most of Smuttynose's offerings, but they do occasionally brew a lemon. I haven't seen that Winter Ale in my local grocery, but I think I shall avoid it.

ShirleySerious: The large graphic on the right side says it all about this author.

This, actually, and not just the graphic - there are links on that site to other InBev intellectual properties (I can't call that shiat "beer"), and the whole "annoying list as attention-seeking troll post" routine was "provocative" half a decade ago. These days, not so much.

the highest proportion of skunked bottle beers I've had have been Yuengling

I would be happy to receive any of those beers for xmas. Especially Southern Tier. That's one of the only pumpkin ales I actually like.

Yuengling is pretty meh.

For a cheap mass-produced beer it is not bad, but it is far from my first choice

fruit ? pine needles ? WTF?

this site has a "cheep beer" blog ... no wonder the author could not appreciate real beer like Arrogant Bastard.

(i agree with the lambic though)

If I like it, it is a good beer. If I don't like it, it isn't a good beer. I don't need someone telling me what to like and what not to like. That's why there are so many different brands. Not everyone's taste is the same.

2011-12-24 02:47:48 PM
Giving my brother a beer guide book for Christmas, is that acceptable?

I'm really going to take advice about "bad" beer when he has ads for BUDWEISER on the site.

Arrogant Bastard? You go to hell. You go to hell and you die.

Stick to making sandwiches and/or babies, horrible-blog-writer lady.

I received one of these last year. I can assure that it is always in good taste, although fairly ubiquitous when you live so close to the source.

Arrogant Bastard is an excellent winter brew. Pine notes?

And there are lots of great pumpkin beers around.

Author should stick with Bud Light.

Interrupted Infinitum: I liked the Smuttynose when I had it.

It's not snobbish. It's dumb. The first four beers are good to great and not at all as described by the writer. Only the Sam Adams pathetic excuse for a lambic deserves to be on a list of bad beers.

Won't defend most of them, but everyone I know likes Arrogant Bastard.

I like to buy one-off bottles whenever I'm at a place with a big/weird selection just to taste them,
and I loved arrogant bastard-it was great. Some are awful, some are good, but I like trying different ones.

BTW, just WHEN did Hackoor-Schoor weiss beer become "clear"??????
That's the only thing I can drink warm!!
