He was behind bars today after a judge jailed him for 18 months for growing the cannabis plant

18 months in jail for growing a plant. Farking ridiculous.

2011-12-24 07:54:39 AM
He claimed the plants were for his own personal use but the factory clearly had the potential to produce a large quantity of cannabis.

From TFA's comments:

Jailed for potential?

I'm afraid. I'm very afraid.

That's not 'stupid', submitter. That's awesome.
It's a goddamned plant. Why is this illegal?

I'm hoping Subby meant the Stupid tag for the law enforcement, not the Christmas tree weed.

I trust I'm not the only person who ready subby's headline and inferred that the Richards in question was Keith?

/Also, the tag is stupid.

Well, to be honest, he was growing 13 plants at the time of the raid. Nevertheless, the fact that marijuana is still illegal in this country is almost beyond belief.

I once knew someone who told me that they were murdered by just such a dangerous pot maniac/dope fiend.

In a past life.

I'm assuming that the actual illegal part is the hydroponic setup in his home.

Clearly a threat to society. I'm glad he's in prison for the holiday. And instead of becoming bitter and resentful of law enforcement, I'm sure him and his family will see the error of their ways and be thankful.

Stupid, indeed, filling our prisons with these horticulturists. But, you gotta follow the money on this one and there's a lot more money to be made by keeping it illegal.

In the larger War on DrugsTM, there's absolutely no way that any of the almost pure profit that drug kingpins make could find its way back into the hands of our governors. No way that they could buy influence to keep the shiat illegal. No possible way.

/ You might even say that it's unpossible.

For those who wonder why the police spend so much time arresting people for pot violations rather than preventing violent crimes, here's a nice a little video Link (new window) I'll give you a hint, it's about the money.

Not a problem. International traffickers can step in to meet the demand.

I dunno man. I had urges to invade a country before weed. But ironically that country was Jamaica.

It sure does. But in his world view it's perfectly fine to oppress people just so long as they don't look like him and don't enjoy the things he likes.

The poisonous stuff is usually kept indoors and labeled as "house plants."

Considering that they claim the rest of the plants were being grown hydroponically, I assume he knows what he's doing, but with this plant he just let it grow out under ambient light for shiats n giggles. Also, that's far from a "huge" pot plant.

Not to be too nit picky here but,
1. The plant is clearly in a soil pot, so it's not a hydroponic system.
2. Hydroponics are not illegal anywhere (err, hmm, maybe they are, we do live have some pretty farking stupid laws).

Lol, yeah. Actually, it looks like that is his cuttling tree (used to start other plants). Or maybe he's just bad at it.

Maybe it's a sativa. Those are suppose to get tall and lanky. Don't know cause i never tried growing a sativa. Indicas have taken over cause they tend to be short which can be a necessary condition for growing under lamps.

I would have requested to be on the jury, then refused to convict. Thats some bullshiat there. No weapons, no violence, no harm, no foul.

Unlikely, it appears to be budding out. From my experience, people tend to keep lights on their clone mother 24 hours to keep it leafy.

Depending on the genetics, even a plant this poorly tended can be worth smoking (assuming it was allowed to mature). Although it won't be top shelf or anything.
