Not me. To be cold-hearted one has to have a heart in the first place, Sold it for a prime Elk hunting trip in Wyoming. How much am i bid for this low mileage conscience and sense of empathy?

Cooper, who was formerly known as "Prince," had been rescued from a high-kill shelter along with his siblings and was transported to the Westchester shelter for adoption, according to SPCA of Westchester

So they gave him the dog who was formerly known as Prince. "This is what is sounds like, when dogs fark---Arf! Arf! Arf! Arf!......Arf! Arf! Arf! Arf!"

Some poor Atlas will probably end up paying for this freeloaders treatment once Obamacare kicks in.

On the bright side maybe he'll die real soon decreasing the surplus population.

Eh, he needs to look less healthy for the picture to be a real tear jerker. He doesn't have that washed out, anemic look my brother had when he was going through the more intensive chemo for childhood leukemia. Damn slacker looks like he is in remission.

No problem. We'll just rent the poor guy 8 hours of radio time, and he can deliver an 8 hour monologue on his beliefs.

Crudbucket: Yeah, but who's gonna walk it?

12 week old Shepherd Mix

I'm all for people adopting dogs. I do think that people should caution themselves from doing the 'gift puppy' thing though. This dog is going to be biting everything in sight for about 4 straight months and then have unrealistic amounts of energy for about 4 straight years. If the parents don't have time for training and exercise every day (and it would be hard to find the the time with young children) then all of that energy will turn into destructive, disruptive behavior. I'm just going to assume that this family has had puppies/herding dogs before and knows what they are in for.

/I'm sick of seeing all of the 'here is my kid's Christmas present- a puppy!' on Facebook (and in real life), a lot of children or families with children would be much better off with an adult or senior dog...
//Sorry for being a jerk, but it would be more touching if he got a 6 year old Cav King Charles Mix or Greyhound...

2011-12-24 10:32:10 AM
In related news, they tried this down the road at a Chinese kid's home, with a less cheerful outcome...

I had a roommate who bought an Australian Shepherd puppy. I don't think she ever realized the amount of work I did to try to keep that dog sane.

Allowing a dog to lick your face is like using used toilet paper to wash your face.

leevis: A woman I work with has a son about that age who was just diagnosed with it. Maybe I should take up a collection to get him a puppy too.

Please also check with their landlord first (if applicable), make sure the dog has all its shots, get a doggie bed, toys, food for at least a month, treats, a book on that breed, a book on training (including paper/going out training), microchip, collar, leash, harness, puppy wee-wee pads, and a certificate for at least two vet visits (for when the puppy eats somebody's underwear.) Consider throwing in a dog walker's services and a renter's/homeowner's insurance policy as well.

Agree with others who recommend adopting an adult dog for a busy family; also suggest a calm breed like a lab or retriever. In addition, recognize that dogs need a lot of crap, and that crap costs lots of cash. Be thoughtful when giving pets to someone outside of your nuclear family!

This. Buncha pension queens using taxpayer-paid equipment to aid in their attention-whoring. And out of uniform, too. I can imagine the headlines if there were a fire and these morons had to go back to the station to get suited up before ambling over.

Mom's a complete drama whore too. Couldn't just go to the shelter to pick up the dog, could she? No, she had to have the fire department involved. Jesus, I can only imagine what she made her husband go through to propose.

Cloudchaser Sakonige the Red Wolf: Allowing a dog to lick your face is like using used toilet paper to wash your face.

hah last week we were hiking in the woods with the dog scoping out some new deer-hunting ground. We see some deer and backtrack to hide in the woods and check their route. Well inevitably we sit in some rabbit-poo which my dog immediately tries to eat and as soon as I ask him to "leave it" he decides to try to lick my face to appease me.

Meh.
